Greensboro Fire Dept was dispatched to the area of Steam Mill Brook Wildlife Area for a reported brush fire. Mutual aid was requested for Hardwick and Walden for their ATV fire pumps. Crews met with the caller who advised it was deep within the woods near the waterway. The caller provided photographs and a location. A crew of 12 fire fighters rode up the access roads until the ATVS couldn’t go further and hiked in. Due to the remote location, the operation was halted and crews returned to base camp as light was fading for the day. The agency of natural resources parks dept was called and met with base camp. ANR will contact their forest fire team and hike into the area at daybreak Monday. We would like to thank Walden Fire Department, Hardwick Fire Department and ANR for their assistance. The cause of the fire is unknown and will be investigated.

Meeting night looked a little different tonight in Greensboro. Department members suprised Jake Pilbin and Mallory Foss with a fire department baby shower. This is a tradition celebrated over many years within the station. The department gifted them a personalized toy box, and everyone contributed gifts to fill it. Congratulations to you both!
