At Westmoreland Intermediate Unit, our Assistive Technology Consultants work with school teams to find communication tools and strategies that help students express themselves and fully participate in their learning. Through consultations and our AT Lending Library, educators can explore a variety of supports to meet each student’s unique needs.

New to our AT Lending Library: Children’s books featuring AAC users! These stories help introduce AAC to classmates, build understanding, and encourage inclusive classrooms where every student feels seen and valued.

AAC is more than a device. It’s a way to share ideas, make choices, build friendships, and be part of the conversation.

Middle school students took the controls at the Hopper Drone Experience at Franklin Regional Intermediate School!

Students planned, programmed, and piloted Hopper Drones through real-world challenges, putting their teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills into action.

The event was a collaboration between Franklin Regional Intermediate School and the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit, bringing students together for a hands-on STEM experience focused on creativity, technology, and innovation.

Experiences like these bring STEM learning to life, giving students opportunities to explore emerging technologies, think outside the box, and discover new possibilities for the future!

We were happy to welcome the Westmoreland-Fayette Workforce Investment Board to the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit as the host site for Day 1 of Teacher in the Workplace! This program helps connect educators with local workforce needs, giving them valuable insight into the skills and opportunities shaping our community.
