O&M Meter Reader

Department: Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
Reports To: Distribution Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and safety- focused O&M Meter Reader to join our Operations & Maintenance team. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate meter readings, maintaining customer service connections, identifying system issues, and supporting distribution system operations. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to providing excellent service to our customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Read and record water meters accurately and efficiently.
•Ensure the accuracy of all meter readings and report discrepancies.
•Service, maintain, and repair customer service connections as assigned.
•Identify, document, and report leaks, damaged equipment, and repair needs to the Distribution Manager.
•Maintain and service assigned vehicles, equipment, and tools to ensure safe and reliable operation.
•Assist as an Operations & Maintenance Crew Member when needed.
•Complete all assigned work in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
•Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
•Respond to emergency situations and participate in an on-call rotation as required.
•Maintain positive and professional interactions with customers and the public.

Qualifications:

•High school diploma or GED preferred.
•Experience in meter reading, utility operations, water distribution, maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
•Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
•Ability to operate vehicles, equipment, and hand tools safely.
•Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
•Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
•Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and customers.
•Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment as required.
•Participation in an on-call rotation and availability to respond to emergencies outside normal working hours when necessary.

Responsibilities include:
•Works under direction of the Crew Leader.
•To complete all maintenance, repairs, and new construction projects assigned.
•To service and maintain all customer service connections.
•To identify and report any leaks or repairs needed to the Distribution Manager.
•To maintain and service all vehicles, equipment, and tools assigned.
•To complete all assignments issued in a safe, timely and cost effective manner.
•Be available for on-call duty.

Requirements:
•Texas Driver License
•Clean Record
•High School Grad
•Must be able to lift 80 pounds.
•Available to work nights and weekends when on-call.
