On a blustery Sunday, students, their families and representatives from East Carolina University and Pitt County Schools gathered to celebrate young artists whose artwork is being showcased in Joyner Library during a special reception.

The student art show continues the Teaching Resources Center’s partnership with Pitt County Schools and Emerge Gallery to present the “K-12: Works by Pitt County Schools Art Students” Exhibition.

This year’s show features 22 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, ceramics and mixed media, created by talented students from 12 different Pitt County schools.

Congratulations to all the student artists and thank you to our partners for helping showcase the incredible artistic talent of Pitt County Schools students.

From the Treasure Chest.

East Carolina University’s conservation team is working on the preservation of a 1667 copy of Jean Blaeu’s ‘Atlas Maior’, which details what was then known by Europeans of Asia – a priceless aspect of world history that we are proud to be the current caretakers of.

What does it take to understand the human body? 🔍

For centuries, physicians, anatomists, artists, and students have used observation, illustration, dissection, and new technologies to explore what lies beneath the skin. Our new exhibit, Inside the Human Body: The Evolution of Anatomical Knowledge, traces that history through early anatomical texts, detailed illustrations, models, class notes, and medical instruments.

Now on display at the ECU Health Family Medicine Center, second floor.

Want to go further? Anatomical models are available to check out from the Circulation Desk on the second floor of Laupus Library. Stop by and take a closer look for yourself!
