**FIVE MINUTES. THAT'S ALL IT TOOK.**

We had just been discussing our need for cold storage for an upcoming project at FISH when someone knocked on the door.

A gentleman walked in and asked, “Do you happen to need any cold storage?”

You can't make this stuff up!

And it wasn't the only time. **No fewer than THREE times last week, God provided for a need in a way that left us amazed.**

Sometimes God provides before we've even had time to ask. Other times, perhaps He wants us to ask so that someone else has the opportunity to experience the blessing of giving.

Someone recently reminded me, **“If you don't ask, nobody has the opportunity to say yes.”**

And isn't that the truth? Sometimes we're hesitant. But Jesus tells us:

*“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”* — Matthew 7:7 (ESV)

So we're asking!

Some needs are small, some are big, and one is REALLY big. But every one of them represents an opportunity to bless someone else.

**HERE'S OUR LIST. Do any of them call out to your helping heart?**

1. 🥔 **1 to 1,500 boxes of instant mashed potatoes (approximately one pallet).** These will help us provide familiar holiday foods to families who might otherwise struggle to put a special meal on the table by 11/1.

2. 🦃 **1 to 1,500 packets of turkey or chicken gravy.** A simple addition that helps turn holiday food into a traditional holiday dinner by 11/1

3. 📖 **Bibles in modern, easy-to-read English translations or Spanish.** We always need these to offer God's Word to anyone who requests or would welcome a Bible, in a language and translation they can comfortably understand.

4. 🎒 **MARK weekend food sponsors.** Food prices are up, but hunger neither cares nor takes weekends off. Every month we purchase food for students in Greenville, Celeste, Commerce, Wolfe City, Quinlan, and Farmersville, pack it, and send it home every single weekend with kids who worry because they don't have enough food at home.

5. 🌸 **Feminine hygiene products.** Always needed, often overlooked, and expensive for families already stretching every dollar. These gifts provide dignity and meet a basic necessity.

6. ❤️ **Monthly donors.** Regular gifts help us know what resources we can count on each month, so we can plan responsibly and understand how much assistance we can consistently provide to our neighbors.

7. 💌 **Notecards of encouragement.** A few handwritten words tucked into a food box can remind someone going through a difficult season that they are loved, valued, and not forgotten.

8. 🙏 **Prayer team members.** We believe prayer matters. We're looking for people willing to faithfully pray for the families we serve, our volunteers, our staff, and the work God has entrusted to us.

9. 🔥 **Space heaters.** For neighbors who struggle to keep their homes warm during the winter months, a heater can provide much-needed comfort.

10. 🧣 **Blankets.** A warm blanket is a simple, practical gift that can make cold nights a little easier for someone in need.

11. 🚚 **And here's our BIG ask: A box truck with a liftgate!** We move enormous amounts of food throughout Hunt County. A truck with a liftgate would make loading and unloading safer, help us transport more food efficiently, and expand our ability to serve families across our communities. Refrigerated would be an incredible bonus!

**HELP. HOPE. JOY.**

That's what we want every neighbor to find at FISH. You've generously answered our asks before, and we're grateful. Maybe there's one on this list you can say YES to!

Host a **Beanie We**ie Halloween food drive** at your church, school, business, or in your neighborhood! Collect cans of **Beanie We**ies, Vienna sausages, and pop-top SpaghettiOs** for FISH's MARK program.

We pack these easy-to-open, protein-containing foods into weekend food bags for children whose teachers have identified them as experiencing food insecurity. These bags help ensure kids have something to eat when school meals aren't available.

**Can't host a food drive? Ship a case or two directly to us!**

🌟 Ambassador Spotlight: Rebeka Ecker
🏢 Organization: Hunt County Shared Ministries
🔍 Role: Director of Development

Rebeka Ecker serves as the Director of Development at Hunt County Shared Ministries, also known as FISH, where she helps with fundraising, community outreach, and social media. For the past two years, she has worked to strengthen connections between FISH and the community while sharing the organization’s mission with others.

Her favorite part of her job is connecting people to the mission of Hunt County Shared Ministries. She loves watching someone go from simply hearing about what FISH does to truly understanding the impact—and then choosing to become part of the solution.

The part of her job she is most proud of is that FISH continues to say “yes” to more families in need, even as demand grows. Meeting those needs takes the support of an entire community, and Rebeka is proud to be part of a Hunt County community that continues to step up and care for its neighbors.

Something interesting about Rebeka is that she has learned independence and hard work at an early age! She was driving a tractor and hauling hay by age 10 and had her driver’s license at 15. Those early lessons in responsibility and determination are qualities she still carries with her today.

Rebeka’s passion for connecting people to a greater purpose, heart for service, and commitment to helping families in need make her a wonderful representative of FISH and an outstanding Chamber Ambassador.

🌟Thank you, Rebeka, for being an amazing Ambassador to the Chamber!🌟

What I see often...People who worked all week. Paid their basic bills. Lived frugally, and struggle with rising grocery prices. Underemployment.

There's a growing struggle in our community that doesn't always look like poverty.

It looks like a mom leaving for work before her children wake up. A dad picking up extra shifts. A family doing everything they can and still coming up short.

**Consider this:** According to the Federal Reserve, 37% of American adults couldn't cover a $400 emergency entirely with cash or its equivalent.

Hunt County has an estimated **95,769 adults and 31,583 children**. If that national rate holds true locally, **more than 35,000 adults** could be facing that same financial vulnerability—and the strain on household budgets affects children, too.

**That's where FISH steps in.**

At Hunt County Shared Ministries, families can visit our client-choice pantry once a month and receive groceries based on household size, helping free up dollars for rent, utilities, transportation, and other necessities.

**We're not replacing their hard work. We're helping their hard work go further.**

Because sometimes **Love Your Neighbor** means helping a working family make the math work.

A BIG THANK YOU to Kelly and Beau at Cost Less Containers!

While we await necessary repairs to our larger warehouse, storage space is at a premium—and we're heading into one of our busiest seasons of the year.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Kelly and Beau at Cost Less Containers, we now have additional temporary Conex storage to help us prepare for the holidays by storing all that tasty food to go in our holiday boxes!

Your gift is truly a lifesaver! It gives us much-needed breathing room as we prepare to serve thousands of Hunt County families this holiday season.

Sometimes loving your neighbor means making room for the blessings to come!

From all of us at Hunt County Shared Ministries, THANK YOU for helping us Love Our Neighbors! ❤️

# Small Miracles, Big Blessings
**Story #1: The Bed She Prayed For**

Someone recently asked what my favorite part of my job is. My answer was easy. **People.** The people we serve and the people who give so generously of their time, resources, and hearts.

At Hunt County Shared Ministries, **“Love Your Neighbor”** is more than our tagline. Sometimes we get to witness what happens when generosity and God's provision come together in extraordinary ways.

And this story is one of them.

Recently, a local medical supply store closed and donated its remaining inventory to us. Among the items was a specialized bed for children with autism and other sensory or sleep challenges.

We knew it could change someone's life. We just didn't know whose.

We offered it to several people. Each time, the answer was no.

**And then we met a mother who had been praying for that EXACT bed for TWO YEARS.**

Not just a bed like it. **The exact brand. The exact model number.**

Her young son with autism struggled to sleep through the night, and the entire family struggled along with him.

For two years, she had prayed for this bed.

And somehow, through a donated inventory, a series of connections, and several closed doors, it found its way to her.

**The very first night, her son slept beautifully. And so did the rest of his family.**

Think about that.

A business closes. A bed is donated. Others pass it by. And a mother's two-year prayer is answered.

We couldn't have planned it. We simply had the privilege of connecting a gift with a need.

**What looked like leftover inventory to one business became an answer to prayer for one family.**

Sometimes loving your neighbor means providing groceries. Sometimes it's helping someone through a crisis. And sometimes, it's being the unexpected connection between a mother's prayer and a peaceful night's sleep.

**Small miracles. Big blessings.**

What a privilege to be part of what God is doing through the generosity of our neighbors.
