October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to remember victims, support survivors, recognize those working to help them, and reinforce that abuse has no place in a healthy relationship. This month, look for deputies wearing this purple badge as a sign of our commitment.

Domestic violence is not limited to physical assault. Abuse can also include threats, intimidation, stalking, emotional abuse, sexual violence, isolation, and financial control.

If someone you know is experiencing abuse, listen without judgment and help them connect with resources when they are ready.

And if you are experiencing domestic violence yourself, please know that help is available.

You can reach one of our Victim Advocates by calling 252-902-2665.

You can speak with a deputy by calling 252-830-4141.

Of course, in an emergency, call 911.

Confidential help is also available through the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).

We are stressing the importance of stopping the tragedy that is domestic violence. That is why we have a specialized unit of Domestic Violence Detectives and Victim Advocates who are dedicated to helping those in need.

We care and remain hard at work to assist all citizens with this and every matter of concern.

Yesterday, AG Jeff Jackson launched N.C. Fuel Check following last week's gas tax suspension. As stations receive new deliveries, prices are expected to come down. The Pitt County Domestic Violence Network invites you to their Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month Candlelight Vigil Ceremony on October 22, 2026 at 6:30pm. This event will take place at the Pitt County Courthouse, Superior Courtroom 1.
Please join us to remember and honor the lives taken by domestic violence in our community and support their families and friends.

Deputies, Dogs, & Drones, OH MY! Last Friday, some of our deputies, Deputy Barkley (Therapy K9), Patrol K9 Rex, and officers (and a drone) from Winterville Police Department had FUN with some students at Christ Covenant School. We love our communities and are focused on helping and mentoring our youth to be great citizens. Thank you, Christ Covenant School, for having us!
