Have a safe and happy Friday from your fire friends!

💙 We had such a great turnout at today’s L.A.W. School that we couldn’t wait to get our next older adult program posted!

Coming up next from LIFT Hunt County...

💬 You CAN Ask a Doctor That!

Have you ever had a health question you wanted to ask your doctor...but felt a little uncomfortable, embarrassed, or just weren’t quite sure how to bring it up?

That’s exactly what this program is about.

Men and women will meet in separate groups, each with a physician, giving everyone a more comfortable setting to talk about personal health concerns. Questions can be submitted anonymously, so you never have to raise your hand or identify yourself.

Hormones. Sleep. Medications. Bladder concerns. Changes in your body. Questions about aging. Or that one thing you’ve wondered about but never quite asked.

👉 Nothing is off the table when it comes to your health.

Watch the video to see exactly how the program will work, then start thinking about the question you might want to drop in the box. 😉

📝 Ready to join us? Registration information is in the comments below!

💙 Sponsored by Greenville Fire-Rescue, Hunt Regional Healthcare, Nuvia Health, and Family First Home Health & Hospice.

Because there are no silly or embarrassing questions when it comes to your health...

DAY 5: FULLY CHARGED? TIME TO UNPLUG. 🔌✅

It’s Day 5 of Fire Prevention Week, and today’s battery safety tip is an easy habit we can ALL put into practice.

When your device is fully charged, unplug it.

Leaving a device plugged in longer than needed can increase heat and put extra stress on the battery.

That means when you see 100%… the charging job is DONE. 🎉

🔋 Charge it.
✅ Reach full charge.
🔌 Unplug it.

This is also a great habit to teach kids and teens with phones, tablets, laptops, and other rechargeable devices.

And yes… 🐾 Sparky is still keeping an eye on us this week, so let’s make him proud and practice safe charging habits every day!

⚡ Small action. Big impact.

🍕🚒 Well Greenville…we batted 100 tonight! 🔥👏

A HUGE thank you to Domino's Pizza, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and especially the residents who welcomed Greenville Fire-Rescue into their homes this evening as part of our partnership.

We are thrilled to say that every home we visited had working smoke alarms! ❤️🔥

That makes our fire-safety hearts pretty warm and fuzzy, because working smoke alarms are one of the simplest and most important steps you can take to help protect your family.

And yes…those families also got the bonus of FREE PIZZA! 🍕🙌

A special thank you to the Station 1, B-Shift engine crew who visited the homes and checked smoke alarms while spending time with the families.

And we absolutely have to give a shout-out to the crew at Domino’s. They were slinging dough and knocking out those pizza orders like pros. That is one hardworking bunch! 🍕💪

We did manage to grab a few pictures along the way, but we were pretty busy visiting with families, checking alarms, and enjoying the evening. Plus, a few of our families were just a little camera shy. 😄📸

Thank you to everyone who helped make tonight such a fun way to celebrate Fire Prevention Week and, more importantly, reinforce a message that can save lives:

Test your smoke alarms. Make sure they work. And keep your family fire safe. ❤️ 🚒

DAY 4: KNOW THE WARNING SIGNS 🚨🔋

It’s Fire Prevention Week, and today’s battery safety tip is all about recognizing when a lithium-ion battery may be in trouble.

Your device may be trying to tell you something.

STOP using it if the battery:

🔥 Feels unusually warm
👃 Has a strange odor
💥 Makes popping or unusual noises
🎈 Changes shape or begins to swell
🎨 Changes color
💨 Starts smoking

A damaged battery can overheat and start a fire, so don’t ignore these warning signs.

If you notice something unusual, stop using the device right away. If it is safe to do so, move it away from anything that can burn.

And remember, this applies to more than just phones. Tablets, laptops, toys, power tools, scooters, e-bikes and many other rechargeable devices use lithium-ion batteries too.

🐾 We know Sparky is following along with our Fire Prevention Week posts 🐾 🚒, so let’s make him proud and put these safety tips into practice!

⚡ Know the signs. Take action early. Practice safe charging every day.

DAY 3: SOFT SURFACE? HARD PASS. 🔋

It’s Fire Prevention Week, and today’s battery safety tip is about WHERE you charge your devices.

Charging your phone on the bed or couch? Soft surface? Hard pass. ❌

Lithium-ion batteries can generate heat while charging. Beds, couches, blankets and pillows can trap that heat and block airflow.

And parents, this is a good one to talk about with your kids and teens. 📱

Phones and tablets should NEVER be charging under a pillow, blanket, or pile of bedding. It may be tempting to keep a phone tucked under a pillow at night, but that can trap heat around the device and battery.

✅ Charge devices on a hard, flat surface such as a table, desk, countertop or floor.

❌ Skip the bed, couch, blanket or pillow.

A small change in where you charge can make a big difference in safety.

⚡ Small action. Big impact.
