Greenville Fire/Rescue returned to the Rose Bay Canal Fire today to provide EMS standby support for personnel engaged in fire suppression efforts. We’re honored to work alongside Hyde County EMS and the NC Forest Service as operations continue.

Yesterday, Greenville Fire/Rescue provided EMS standby support to assist Hyde County EMS and the NC Forestry Service during operations at the Rose Bay Canal Fire. Our crews remained on scene to ensure the safety and well-being of personnel working to contain the fire. We appreciate the dedication and teamwork of all agencies involved.

Yesterday at 5:58 p.m., crews were dispatched to Cross Creek for a reported small brush fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters quickly determined the incident involved an apartment fire. Crews acted swiftly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighboring units, helping protect surrounding homes and property.

It has been brought to our attention that before Greenville Fire/Rescue units arrived on scene at Logan's Roadhouse during Wednesday's fire, a bystander helped prevent the fire from spreading. That individual was Brandon Spain, a fellow City of Greenville employee.

Brandon's quick actions helped contain the fire until GFR crews arrived, gained access to the wall space, and fully extinguished the fire. His initiative and willingness to step in during a critical moment helped limit the fire's spread and supported a successful outcome.

We would like to recognize Brandon for his efforts and thank him for his dedication to serving our community. Outstanding work, Brandon!

At 11:18 a.m., crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire at Logan’s Roadhouse and arrived on scene within one minute of the call. Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke coming from the building and quickly located the source of the fire.

With low humidity and elevated fire danger conditions in the area, the rapid response and actions of crews were especially critical in preventing the fire from spreading and causing more extensive damage. The fire was quickly extinguished, and the scene was secured.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
