Eastern Elementary School

Hunter Gregson won “Be Mrs. Coxe for a day” at Pizza Bingo, and he took this very seriously. Hunter met with Mrs. Coxe a few weeks ago to map out his lessons and activities, and put them into action today. Students did rhythm activities with basketballs, played step bells and crash cans, did various cup games, and rocked the tubano drums for one last Pumpkin Bones activity. Do we have a future music educator?

Congratulations to Jack Berry and Reese Houston for being recognized at the Pitt County Commissioner’s meeting this evening. 4th grade students were able to submit an essay into a county contest about what North Carolina means to them and Eastern was lucky enough to have Jack earn 1st place and Reese earn 2nd place. Please join me in congratulating these Eagles for their awesome achievement! 💚🦅💚

Happy Sunday and last full week of school Eagle Families!

I am extremely proud of the effort and hard work our students showed during testing last week. We will be sending home test results tomorrow. We have an option to remediate and re-test and we have a great many students who are within 5 points of passing and will get another shot !
Please review our remediation and re testing days- we will be sending home a letter tomorrow that shares the plan for your child and if you have any questions please reach to their teacher. If you wish for your child to re test we will need you to sign and return the re test letter- thank you !
Tomorrow is our big Science EOG test day for our fifth graders and our science DCA for our fourth graders. We ask that you get them to bed early tonight, get them to school and on time and encourage them to do their best! We are hopeful these results will reflect the effort and learning we have been doing all year - we got this !
Looking forward to another week of soaring into reaching our goals!

Today our 3-5 students completed their reading EOG testing. We are proud to share our students worked very hard and used their strategies and only 2 students were absent today! Great job parents !
Thanks for helping them to get to bed early and they all came in with smiles and a positive attitude ! Let’s do it again tomorrow Eagles ! 💚🦅💚

This is it ! We have worked tirelessly all year, we have studied, learned new standards, new operations in math, learned test taking strategies, made games out of learning and assessments, practiced using calculators, highlighters and white paper and we are ready !!
Tomorrow students in grades 3-5 will take their reading EOG. It is a long assessment and requires focus and stamina!
Please help us make testing day run smoothly with reminders of the following :
- do not drop off late or pick up students early
- no guests for lunch due to schedule changes
- share an encouraging message with your child to start the day
- remind them if the strategies they have learned
- go to bed early and relax tonight !
- we will be serving breakfast in the morning
Thank you for your support in helping make tomorrow one filled with grit, goals and wishes for much growth from our students !
