Pioneer Electric offices will be closed Thursday, October 22, for employee training. Our offices will reopen for normal business hours on Friday, October 23.

Taking time to learn, train and sharpen our skills helps our team continue to safely provide affordable and reliable electricity to the members we serve.

As always, crews remain available to respond to outages and emergencies. Members can call 1-800-239-3092, use SmartHub or our 24/7 payment kiosks to manage their accounts while our offices are closed.

Earlier this school year, Pioneer Electric team members Anna Stephens and Trip DeShields had the pleasure of delivering classroom supplies to four schools in our service area: ABC Elementary, Keith High School, Georgiana School and The Calhoun School.

We know teachers pour so much of their time, energy and heart into helping students succeed. These supplies were a small way for Pioneer Electric to show our appreciation and support the important work happening in our local classrooms.

We're proud to support the schools, teachers and students who are helping shape the future of our communities! 💚

More than 8,000 members were without power Saturday morning. Five days later, power has been restored to every home capable of receiving it. That's pretty remarkable considering that our system includes 2,700 miles of power lines in a service area that covers portions of nine counties. Much of our system runs through dense forests and difficult terrain.

What we've witnessed over the past several days has been an incredible team effort. From our linemen and assisting crews working in the field to our employees behind the scenes coordinating restoration efforts, answering calls and preparing meals — every person had a part in getting the lights back on.

To our Pioneer Electric employees and the crews who came to our aid: Thank you for your dedication, determination and willingness to leave your own families to serve others. We are so proud of what you accomplished together.

To our members: Thank you for your patience, prayers, encouraging words and acts of kindness. We know that going without electricity for several days is difficult, and we don't take your understanding for granted. Your support has meant so much to our entire team.

Above all, we give thanks to God for His hand of protection over our employees, assisting crews and the communities we serve.

The work isn't over. Our linemen continue to work throughout our system, cleaning up storm damage, making return visits to troubleshoot issues and identifying potential problem areas to help prevent future outages.

From all of us at Pioneer Electric, thank you. 💚

Due to continued power restoration efforts following Hurricane Isaias, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our Annual Meeting scheduled for Saturday, October 17. Our employees and assisting crews remain focused on restoring electricity to members affected by the storm, and all available resources are dedicated to that effort.

Members who would like to vote in person may do so:
📅 Friday, October 16
🕖 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
📍 Pioneer Electric's Greenville office

Please bring a photo ID. If you already voted by mail, your vote has been counted.

Our manager's report, treasurer's report, auditor's report and trustee election results will be posted on our website next week.

We appreciate your understanding as our crews continue working to restore power safely and as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience and for your membership in Pioneer Electric. 💚

As if storm restoration wasn't challenging enough ... 🐍

Our linemen have encountered plenty of obstacles while working to restore power following Hurricane Isaias, but today's surprise came with a rattle!

All jokes aside, this is another reminder that storm restoration involves more than repairing power lines. Our crews must navigate unexpected hazards while making safety their top priority.

We're thankful for the men and women working to get the lights back on. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts as restoration efforts continue! 💚

Our outage map looks different today than the past couple of days. Instead of large outages affecting hundreds of members, we're now seeing smaller outages scattered across our entire service area — many affecting just one or two homes.

This is one of the most time-consuming stages of storm restoration.

We have nearly 100 personnel dedicated to restoration efforts in the field and in our offices. They continue working through these remaining outages, one repair at a time, always putting safety first.

A crew may travel several miles to reach an outage affecting just one or two homes. Some repairs are relatively simple, while others may involve replacing broken poles, removing trees or replacing damaged equipment.

We understand you want to know when your power will be restored. As crews continue making repairs, they sometimes discover additional damage that must be addressed before power can be restored. This makes it difficult to provide accurate restoration times for individual locations. We don't want to give you an estimate that we cannot confidently meet.

To those still without power: We hear you. We know you're tired of waiting, and we haven't forgotten about you. Our work continues until the job is done.

The outage count may be dropping more slowly now, but that doesn’t mean the work has slowed down. Many remaining repairs are more extensive or in hard-to-reach areas, taking more time to restore power to fewer members. Crews are still finding damage as they work, making reliable restoration estimates impossible. We know waiting is difficult, and our crews are working hard to get your power back on safely.

Even if you don’t see a crew in your area, work is under way. Repairs farther down the line may be needed before power can safely reach your home.

Thank you for your prayers and support. Our team and their families appreciate it more than you know. 💚

We are thankful for this crew from Plateau Electric Cooperative, who have arrived to assist in our storm recovery process. We also have MDR Construction and Asplundh working alongside our own team. And more help is on the way!

As of 8:00 this morning, there are 3,110 members without power. Our Oak Hill Substation is fed by Alabama Power transmission, and APCo is still working to restore service to it. We have crews working all over the service area, and they are working as hard as they can to get everyone back on.

Thank you for all your support, kindness and patience. 💚

We’re making progress! We started the day with more than 8,000 members without power. As of 6 p.m., that number was down to around 4,000.

We know the question on everyone’s mind is, “When will my power be back on?” We understand how difficult it is to be without power, and we appreciate your patience.

At this time, we’re unable to provide estimated restoration times. Our crews are still locating storm damage and identifying the problems causing outages, while making repairs and restoring power as they go. They are making progress, and that work continues.

Crews from other electric cooperatives and contract workers are on the scene helping with restoration efforts. We’re grateful for these extra hands and everyone working to restore power safely.

If someone in your household relies on electrically powered medical equipment, please make alternate arrangements now for at least the next couple of days, with a plan to extend them if necessary. We hope power will be restored sooner, but we want you to be prepared. Please do not wait for restoration to make arrangements.

Keep freezer doors closed as much as possible. A full freezer can maintain a safe temperature for approximately 48 hours; a half-full freezer for approximately 24 hours, provided the door closed.

Thank you for your patience and support. We’ll continue sharing updates as more information becomes available.
