From 78% last year to 93% this year.
That's how quickly Colorado executives' expectations of AI's workplace impact accelerated, according to COBRT's 2026 workforce survey — featured last week in the Denver Post.
The survey, which informed conversations at our Future of Work summit on May 19 at Empower Field, captures input from executives across more than a dozen industries. A few findings worth sitting with:
• 93% now say generative AI, agentic AI, and machine learning will have the biggest workplace impact over the next 3–5 years
• 90% point to durable human skills — critical thinking, communication, adaptability — as the hardest gaps to fill
• Only 7% of organizations report enterprise-wide AI adoption; half are still piloting
• 60% are redesigning work processes and roles; only 13% cite workforce reduction as their primary response
As Accenture's Eyal Darmon told the room: Colorado employers are moving faster than ever before — and the opportunity ahead is for business, education, workforce development, and policymakers to move forward together.

Less red tape. More runway for Colorado businesses. ✂️📈
Colorado Business Roundtable President Debbie Brown joined legislative leaders and Governor Jared Polis yesterday for the signing of SB26-137, Measures to Reduce Administrative Burdens.
This bipartisan legislation creates a thoughtful process to identify outdated, unnecessary, or duplicative regulations and streamline requirements while protecting the public interest.
SB26-137 is a meaningful step toward a more efficient, modern regulatory system that supports innovation, economic growth, and a strong business climate in Colorado.
