🎉Congratulations to the newest graduates of the Greenwood Village Police Citizens’ Academy! 👏 Your dedication, curiosity, and commitment to building a stronger partnership between our police department and the community truly inspire us.

Over the 11-week course, participants explored the inner workings of law enforcement through hands-on activities and in-depth presentations. Graduates learned about everything from patrol operations and criminal investigations to traffic enforcement, crime scene analysis, SWAT tactics, and K-9 demonstrations. They even experienced simulated scenarios and ride-alongs with our officers, gaining a real-world perspective on the challenges and rewards of policing.

We’re grateful for your enthusiasm for learning what it takes to keep Greenwood Village safe. Thank you for being positive ambassadors for public safety! 🚓💙

Original Post 5/21: Cherry Creek Campus Rebuild Project Update: Demolition has now started on the second of two district administrative office buildings located on the corner of Union Street and Yosemite Street. Complete demolition and removal of materials will take about five weeks. Demolishing these two buildings is the first step of Phase I of the multi-year process to rebuild Cherry Creek High School.

In addition, from May 26 through June 5, Dayton Street will be reduced to a single lane, with traffic controllers to help guide drivers between Campus Middle School and Belleview Elementary School.

Westlands Park Water Feature Opening Delay: The Westlands Park water feature will not open by Memorial Day weekend. We appreciate the community’s patience as both our contractor and city staff have worked diligently throughout the winter to rebuild this popular feature.

We are targeting a reopening for Friday, June 19. Greenwood Village will continue to update the community on the water feature reopening date, both on our social media channels and with on-site signage.

Thank you for your understanding as we get the water feature ready for all to enjoy this summer.

Greenwood Village Police have seen several so-called ‘e-bike’ riders weave dangerously through traffic, try to outrun officers, and make risky moves that can end in tragedy.

But here’s the truth: most of these aren’t regular e-bikes—they’re electric motorcycles, and they’re capable of high speeds and subject to a whole different set of laws and safety risks.

E-motorcycles are illegal in Greenwood Village city parks and on our trails. These areas are meant to be safe for families, walkers, and cyclists—not high-speed vehicles.

If you operate an e-moto on the road, you must follow all traffic laws. That means having a valid driver’s license, registration, and insurance—just like any other motorcycle.

Parents, please talk with your kids and make sure you know what they’re riding. Many of these e-motos can reach dangerous speeds and carry real legal consequences.

If you’re caught breaking the law, you risk a citation and having your e-moto impounded. Most importantly, you’re putting lives at risk, including your own.

National Police Week is observed each May to honor the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers across the United States. It serves as a time to remember those who have lost their lives in the line of duty and to show appreciation for the dedication and bravery of all police officers who work to keep our communities safe.

To our police officers—thank you for always being ready to respond in times of need and keep our neighborhoods safe. Thank you for all that you do for the people of Greenwood Village and beyond. 🚓
