By day, Master Sgt. Ryan Winter serves the community at Denver Fire Department. On drill weekends, he works in the engine shop at the 140th Wing keeping the F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft mission-ready.

“I love serving in the COANG because of the people and the shop morale. We’ve built a team that really supports each other, whether we’re at home station or deployed.”

A Colorado native and member of the Colorado Air National Guard since 2013, Winter has deployed twice and supported multiple TDYs, all while building a decade-long career in the fire service. Recently promoted to lieutenant at the fire station, he leads both in the military and on the fireground—drawing on leadership skills developed in each role to guide his teams with confidence and trust.

From the engine shop to emergency calls, the mission may change but the commitment to service and teamwork stays the same.
