Fugitive in custody. Early this morning, we were tipped off to Mr. Poland's presence in Greenwood. We mobilized fairly quickly and went to a local motel to locate him. It's like he was waiting on us, while seated on a concrete wall smoking a cigarette. He even told the arresting officers that he was about to call us. He was taken into custody without incident. The warrant was served and he picked up two more charges for Violation of Protective Orders because he was in the presence of one protected person and the investigation led officers to believe that another protected person had been at the motel with Mr. Poland. All parties are safe and, as always, arrested persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
🚨 FUGITIVE FRIDAY – DISCORD MODERATOR OF POOR LIFE CHOICES EDITION 🚨
This week's Fugitive Friday is proof that sometimes the biggest threat to your freedom isn't the police.
It's your own mouth.
On the morning of May 10, 2026, Greenwood Police received a call from an individual who was speaking with a man known only as "Adam" on Discord. According to the caller, Adam was allegedly threatening his wife, calling her racial slurs, and saying he wished she was dead. The caller was concerned enough to believe the victim might be in immediate danger.
The caller didn't know Adam's last name.
He didn't know where Adam lived.
He didn't know much of anything useful.
Basically, he handed us a puzzle with half the pieces missing.
Challenge accepted.
Through investigative questioning and good old-fashioned police work, officers were able to identify the subject as **Adam Kay Poland** and determine where he lived.
Officers responded to the residence and made contact with Poland and the victim. Both denied that any altercation had occurred that night, and officers found no evidence of any physical violence.
At that point, it looked like the call might end as nothing more than a welfare check.
Then came the plot twist.
While reviewing records related to the incident, officers discovered that Poland was subject to a valid protective order protecting the very same victim officers found him with that morning. The order stemmed from a prior domestic violence conviction and was confirmed to be active through September 2027.
That discovery changed everything.
Suddenly, the investigation wasn't about what happened on Discord.
It was about a court order.
Officers attempted to locate Poland and eventually reached him by telephone. During that conversation, Poland acknowledged he was aware of the order and stated he would cooperate and turn himself in once he found a ride.
Ah yes.
The famous "I'm gonna turn myself in" defense.
A close cousin to:
• "I was just borrowing it."
• "That's not mine."
• "I can explain."
• And everyone's favorite, "I was on my way there."
For those keeping score at home, promising to turn yourself in has exactly the same legal effect as promising to start a diet on Monday.
Nothing happens until you actually do it.
Days passed.
Then more days passed.
The ride apparently never arrived.
At some point, it became clear that Mr. Poland's transportation plan was operating on the same schedule as a Shreveport-area road construction project.
📄 **On May 28, 2026, an arrest warrant was issued for Adam Kay Poland for Violation of a Protective Order.**
And just like that, he earned himself a featured role on Fugitive Friday.
👉 If you know where Adam Kay Poland is, please contact the Greenwood Police Department.
👉 Adam, if you're reading this: Discord may have a disconnect button, but warrants stay connected 24/7.
Greenwood Police would also like to remind everyone:
• Protective orders are court orders, not relationship advice.
• "I'm getting a ride" is not a recognized legal defense.
• If officers tell you that you need to turn yourself in, that's generally not a suggestion.
• And Fugitive Friday has a memory longer than most internet arguments.
⚖️ All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
