Greer Fire Department

Over the past two days, A-Shift and B-Shift crews from Engine 41, Engine 56, Battalion 41, and Division Chief 41 participated in two full 8-hour training days at the Greenville City Fire Department Training Facility.

The City of Greer Fire Department was invited to train alongside other automatic aid agencies that respond with Greenville City, including Boiling Springs Fire District, Duncan Chapel Fire Department, and Donaldson Fire Department.

Training covered fire suppression, search and rescue, vertical ventilation, forcible entry, RIT, and incident command. Crews worked through hands-on scenarios focused on the tactics and coordination needed when multiple departments respond to the same incident.

We appreciate Greenville City Fire Department for the invitation and the opportunity to participate in this training!🔥

Today, the City of Greer Fire Department hosted Natural Gas Emergency Response Training at the City of Greer Public Safety Training Facility.

The training was led by Greer CPW, EverLine, and Glen Boatwright with Boatwright Emergency Management & Safety Consulting, LLC, and included multiple fire departments, law enforcement, and utility personnel.

The tabletop exercise provided an opportunity to discuss emergency response considerations, agency roles, communication, and coordination during a potential natural gas incident.

We appreciate our partners for bringing this training to our facility and for continuing to strengthen the coordination between the agencies responsible for protecting our community.

🔥 FIRE PREVENTION WEEK 2026 IS HERE! 🔥

Today, October 4th, kicks off Fire Prevention Week, and this year’s theme is one that hits home in today’s world:

⚡ “Charge Smart. Prevent Fires.” ⚡

The City of Greer Fire Department encourages everyone to practice safe charging habits and handle lithium-ion batteries with care. From cell phones and laptops to e-bikes, e-scooters, power tools, and other rechargeable devices, these batteries are part of our everyday lives—but they need to be treated with respect.

🔋 Charge Smart:
• Use the charger designed for your device.
• Follow the manufacturer’s charging instructions.
• Never charge batteries under pillows, blankets, or on beds.
• Don’t use batteries or chargers that are damaged or showing signs of overheating.
• Unplug charging devices when they are fully charged or when you’re not using them.
• Keep lithium-ion batteries away from extreme heat.

This Fire Prevention Week, Sparky and the City of Greer Fire Department want you to remember:

🚒 CHARGE SMART. PREVENT FIRES.

Help us spread the word and make fire safety a priority—not just this week, but all year long!

🚒 Taking Care of Our People

When our crews aren’t running calls, being able to relax, recharge, and reset is crucial. Firefighters spend long hours at the station, and creating a comfortable environment for our personnel is an important part of taking care of our team.

We recently made a small improvement that makes a big difference. Our recliners in the day room were arranged on two levels, giving everyone a better view and making the space more comfortable.

A huge THANK YOU to Lowe’s of Greer for donating the lumber, carpet and other materials to help us build the platform! Your support of the Greer Fire Department and our firefighters is greatly appreciated. Thank you to C-Shift for building the platform and B-Shift for finishing it up. ❤️

It’s partnerships like this that help us take care of the people who take care of our community every day.

Thank you, Lowe’s Greer, for supporting our firefighters! 👨‍🚒🚒
