Greer Fire District

Today, we pause to honor the memory of Brenna and Damon, and to stand with their families and our brothers and sisters at Timber Mesa Fire.

We remember two young firefighters with deep ties to our neighboring communities, we remember the lives they lived, the people they touched, and the lasting impact they made on their community and the fire service. Our thoughts are with everyone who knew and loved them today.

In remembrance of 9/11, Reserve Firefighter Claudia Schley and Chief Sluiter represented Greer Fire in the Patriot Climb at Sunrise Park Resort today. 1310 ft climbed. Almost identical (within 50’) to the height of the Twin Towers. Every step of the way a reminder of those who perished 25 years ago.

Many of you have asked about the status of the Benny Greenwaste Pit. The U.S. Forest Service pushed the material yesterday, and as the photos show, there was plenty of heat beneath the surface. The pit must remain closed until it has cooled enough to reopen safely.

We understand the inconvenience and frustration this closure has caused, and we appreciate your patience’s. We’ll reopen the pit as soon as it is safe to do so and share updates as they become available.

Come out and join us Labor Day weekend for our last fundraiser of the year!

We’ll be cooking up pancakes, sausage, coffee and orange juice at the Butterfly Lodge Pavilion. Breakfast starts at 8:00 a.m. and is scheduled until 11:00 a.m... but really, we’ll keep cooking until nobody’s hungry anymore.

Stop by, visit with your neighbors, make some new friends, and spend a little time with the Firefighters and Auxiliary. We’d love to see you there.

Cost? Just a donation to the Fire Boot. 🚒🥞

This will also be your last chance to buy tickets for the 2026 Greer Fire District Raffle, with drawings taking place at 11:00

Come hungry, bring a friend, and help us wrap up another great fundraising season!

🔥 🚨 USFS is burning the Benny green waste pit today. You will see smoke in the area for the next several days. GFD and USFS will be monitoring the progress throughout. 🚨 🔥

🚨 GFD and the forest service are aware of the tree fire caused by lightning, near montlure camp. The forest service will take care of it, and it is not a threat at this time. Thank you🚨
