ARTober continues in Downtown Griffin! Students from elementary, middle, and high schools throughout The Griffin-Spalding County School System, Griffin GA have been sharing their creativity through artwork now on display at participating businesses.

As part of our month-long celebration, these displays provide an opportunity to showcase the artistic talents of our young people while encouraging our community to explore and support local businesses.

The City of Griffin Communications and Community Engagement Department participated in the Georgia Downtown Association - est. 1999 Regional Meetup in Eatonton, joining Main Street professionals and downtown advocates to exchange ideas, share experiences, and learn from one another.

Join us in Downtown Griffin THIS Thursday at 6pm for the annual youth sports Homecoming Parade, hosted by Spalding County Leisure Services. The parade route begins on East Solomon Street, from 5th Street to 8th Street, then continues down West Broad Street from 8th Street and ends at 5th Street. Surrounding streets will be closed during the parade. While traveling in this area, please drive with care and expect delays.

You're invited to the annual Feast On East Community Lunch hosted by the Griffin Downtown Council on Sunday, October 25th, from 1pm to 3pm.

Enjoy lunch on Solomon Street with live music and simple Southern cookin', all in support of the free, family-friendly events hosted in Downtown Griffin year-round. Buckner's Family Restaurant will return to Downtown Griffin for one day, exclusively for Feast on East, with their famous fried chicken, vegetables, and cobbler. Live music will be provided by Bobby Jo and Matt Floyd in front of Imperial Theatre Park.

All lunch proceeds will support free, family-friendly events hosted year-round by Downtown Griffin, including 2nd Saturday, June Jam Beach Party, Downtown Trick-or-Treat, the Christmas Parade, and more!

⚠️ WEATHER UPDATE from Spalding County Emergency Management

Griffin and Spalding County are under a Flash Flood Warning until 11:45am today, Saturday, October 10th. Heavy rain is causing flash flooding, with additional rainfall expected. Streets, underpasses, creeks, and low-lying areas may quickly become dangerous.

Close to 3,000 residents experienced power outages overnight, and crews are still restoring power in one area. Thank you to our Electric crew for working through these conditions, and to our Public Works and Public Safety crews who are helping keep our streets clear and safe for those who must travel. As a reminder when traveling:

- Slow down and allow extra distance between vehicles.
- Never drive through flooded streets or around barricades. Turn around, don’t drown.
- Stay away from downed power lines and watch for fallen trees and debris.
- Give crews plenty of room to work safely.
