With the potential for severe weather throughout the week, we wanted to let the community know that we will be working on the storm sirens today.

We encourage everyone to stay weather-aware and have a way to receive weather alerts. While we will do our best to share updates on our page during severe weather, please do not rely on our page as your only source of information.

As of now, the warning to seek shelter is being lifted.

⚠️WE URGE YOU TO STAY CAUTIOUS AND PREPARED TO GO BACK TO SHELTER AS THERE ARE MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF THIS STORM COMING⚠️

In the event that the sirens sound again, the department will be going up and down the streets with lights and sirens to signal you to seek shelter as well.

TORNADO SIRENS ARE ABOUT TO SOUND. SEEK SHELTER NOW!

Last night was a busy one.

At 8:14 PM, Borger Fire Department requested additional resources for a wildfire near the Canadian River. We responded as part of the Carson County ESD 2 Strike Team with 4 apparatus and 8 personnel. We were released from the call around 11:00 PM.

On our way home, Panhandle Fire requested additional assistance for another wildfire that had broken out on the Four Sixes Ranch. Those already en route home rerouted to respond, with one additional apparatus and personnel responding as well.

All personnel and apparatus made it safely back to the station and were back in service by approximately 3:00 AM.

What sound does a fire truck make? 🚒

We asked our firefighters...and a few future firefighters. Their answers may vary.

⚠️ Roadside 5 fire⚠️

Emergency crews are currently battling an active wildfire that began near FM 1059 and Highway 152.

The incident is under the command of the Skellytown Fire Chief, with mutual aid from Borger Fire Department, Texas A&M Forest Service, Groom Fire Department, White Deer Fire Department, Hoover Volunteer Fire Department, Lefors Volunteer Fire Department, and Carson County Road & Bridge. With additional assistance from outside agencies responding.

This fire remains active, and crews continue working to contain it.

This serves as an important reminder that, with the extreme heat and ongoing drought conditions we’re experiencing, wildfires can ignite and spread rapidly. Now is the time to make sure you and your family are prepared before an emergency occurs.

Please:
• Stay aware of your surroundings.
• Monitor updates from your local officials.
• Ensure you have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts.
• Be ready to act if conditions change.

We appreciate the dedication of all responding personnel working to protect our communities. Please avoid the area if possible and allow emergency responders room to operate.

We will provide updates as information becomes available.
