Last night, a few of our members were fortunate to attend a DHART LZ safety class at the Groton Fire Department along with many other VT & NH departments. The DHART team sent out two members to host a classroom session detailing DHART's capabilities, processes and how we as LZ coordinators can establish a safe LZ with the right parameters and communication skills.
To conclude the night we transitioned to a local ball field to set up an LZ. As we were awaiting their arrival, an actual emergency took place somewhere in the region and they were diverted to respond. The training is always good to refresh on, or have newer members become prepared in the event we are called upon. It isn't every day we land helicopters, but if and when we do - we promise, it is usually a stressful situation we are involved in that required their launch. Every opportunity to keep the process refreshed will always make it smoother. Special thank you to Groton for hosting!
