Congratulations 🎉🎉 to Madison Township Officer Brian Schwotzer, who received the 2026 Franklin County Star Award last evening, September 24, 2026. The nomination was presented to recognize Brian's exceptional commitment and diligent efforts toward supporting Groveport Schools students, staff members, and members of the Madison Township Community during a particularly demanding period in his personal circumstances.

Misty, Brian's spouse, received a cancer diagnosis, and both individuals endured an difficult struggle throughout her medical treatment and hospitalization. This period presented considerable adversity for Brian and his entire family. Through unified support and collective resilience, they successfully navigated this difficult chapter, with Misty ultimately prevailing.

During this challenging period, Brian demonstrated exceptional commitment by maintaining his employment while managing his wife's medical care and fulfilling his responsibilities as a school resource officer within the Groveport School System. Despite the personal hardships he faced, Brian maintained composure and upheld the highest professional standards.

Brian serves as a valued member of the Madison Township Police Department, and we are honored to recognize him as a respected colleague within our law enforcement community.

The 9/11 Memorial located at the Motts Military Museum stands as a beautiful tribute to that solemn day 25 years ago, reminding us to never forget and allowing those born after 9/11 to grasp its significance and enduring legacy. The new generation will come to understand the unimaginable loss we endured, alongside the inspiring narratives of bravery, compassion, unity, and service that have echoed through the decades. I would like to thank Madison Township Trustees Katherine Chipps, Valerie Swanson, and Chris Andrews, as well as Administrator Susan Brobst, for their presence at this extraordinary event.
