Dr. Patrick Swanson, Professor and Program Director of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at Creighton University School of Medicine, will answer that question at Nature As Medicine. He’ll share the principles and best practices of nature prescriptions, plus how restorative recreation supports healthier people, communities and environments.

Trusted lab services, close to home. From diagnostic testing to routine wellness screenings, the GCMH Laboratory makes it convenient to stay on top of your health. Our LiveWell Wellness Screening is available Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–5 p.m., and Saturdays, 7–11 a.m., with no doctor’s order needed.

Grundy County Memorial Hospital is hosting free ASIST (Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training) on Nov. 5–6 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. In this hands-on, two-day workshop, you’ll learn how to recognize when someone may be at risk and how to help keep them safe.

✅ Free and open to the community
✅ No experience needed, ages 15+
✅ Space is limited, and both days must be attended

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 🌳 Bring the whole family to Nature As Medicine!

On Tuesday, November 10 from 5:15–7:30 p.m. at Grundy Center High School, parents can explore screen time, privacy, parental controls and more at our Families & Technology session. Then they can hear keynote speaker Dr. Patrick Swanson share why time outdoors is some of the best medicine there is.

While you listen, kids can enjoy childcare, YMCA Adventure Camp or a Grundy County Conservation activity. 🍂 Space and pre-registration requirements vary by activity, so sign up early!
