29th Judicial District CASA CASA - (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Each home placement is as unique as the child involved.

A CASA volunteer provides the judge with carefully researched background
information about the child to help the court make a sound decision about that
child's future. The CASA
volunteer must determine if it is in a child's best interest to stay with his or her
parents or guardians, be placed in foster care, or be freed for permanent
adoption. The CASA volunteer makes a recommendation on placement to the
judge, and follows through by monitoring.

It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of 16 year CASA Volunteer Randall Lester.

Randall was a dedicated CASA, having served children in all four of our court jurisdictions, he was an advocate for 29 youths. He trekked across the state many times as an advocate and a support system to several teenage boys. In addition to encouraging them to pursue higher education, Randall also shared his passion and experience serving in the military as an option to help these young men enter adulthood. Randall was an active member of the American Legion Post 133 where he shared about CASA and encouraged their involvement. Randall will be deeply missed by all who worked with him and saw his commitment to children in our communities.

Randall, you leave a lasting legacy on the CASA Program and the children you have served. Thank you for your service in so many ways. Rest in peace our friend.

Some children don't have the words, or the opportunity to speak for themselves.

That's why CASA volunteers step in to ensure their voices are heard, their best interests are protected, and they always have someone standing beside them.
