🏆Time to celebrate!

Gulf Breeze Middle School has been recognized for their work implementing a school-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework. PBIS is an evidence-based, three-tiered prevention framework that national research shows leads to reduced exclusionary discipline and improved student and teacher outcomes. Through this framework, they developed the skills of their students and staff, used data to identify needed supports, acknowledged appropriate behavior, and made system changes where needed to enhance school climate.

As a result of this work, they are being recognized by the Project for achieving Gold PBIS Model School status. This award demonstrates their commitment to positive outcomes for all students! For more information on their efforts, visit https://gbm.santarosaschools.org/o/gbm.

Good evening Dolphins. We had a great day coming back from the hurricane. The students did very well as they adjusted back to school, and my staff did a wonderful job making sure all needs were met. Please let me know if you have anything that we can help you get back into the swing of things. I would like to thank our wonderful PTO for bringing breakfast for our staff this morning. Tomorrow is the last day of the first 9 weeks. We are wearing Gulf Breeze attire or Blue and Gold as we come together for the community of Gulf Breeze. Thanks for entrusting us with the care and welfare of your fantastic kids. Have a great night.

Good evening GBMS Dolphin Family,
As we get ready to return to school tomorrow, I hope each of you is safe and secure and returned to some kind of normal routine. If you have any needs, please reach out to me and I will help you get the resources you need. As we start up tomorrow, I ask everyone to please show some patience. Buses will be late, traffic will be bad, and the car line will be a little bit longer. We want all of our students to get here safely. When picking up or dropping off students, please pull all the way forward so we can get more cars off 98. Students can wear PJ’s tomorrow to make them feel comfortable on their first day back. We will have our regular lunches, and it will be a normal day. Since the Stringfellow Room is not usable, 6th graders will go to the black top before school with the 7th and 8th graders until the 7:05 bell rings. Our teachers will use grace and kindness as we come back from being out for 7 school days. The 1st nine weeks will officially end on Tuesday, Oct 20th with the 2nd nine weeks starting on Wednesday, Oct 21st. Teachers will use these next 2 days to finalize grades for the 1st nine weeks. I have no idea about make-up days at this point but will let you know as soon as the calendar is finalized. We look forward to a great day tomorrow and cannot wait to see all of our students. Have a great night.

Hello GBMS students, staff, family and community. What a crazy week we have been through. I hope everyone is safe and secure and ready to get back to some kind of normalcy in our lives. We understand that some folks have/are going through some tough times. If you have been displaced or having any financial problems, please contact me and I will be able to get you signed up for our free breakfast/lunch program. School is an important part of getting back to normalcy as students get reacquainted with their classmates and enjoy just being teenagers with each other. Our community has really come together during this time, and I see neighbors looking out for and helping each other with the many tasks at hand. With that in mind and wanting students to feel comfortable when they come back to school, I would like to propose 2 dress up days when we get back. On Monday, Oct 19, we will have a PJ Day as I want the students and staff to feel comfortable at school. On Tuesday, Oct 20, we will have a Gulf Breeze Day where students and staff will wear their Gulf Breeze attire or Blue and Gold. GBHS homecoming activities have been moved to the week of Oct 26 -30 and we will move our homecoming dress up days to that week. Our 3 on 3 basketball tournament will be moved to Friday, Oct 30. I will have some follow up information to send later this weekend. Please stay safe and let us know if we can help.

Good evening Dolphins, this is Mr. Brandon from GBMS and I hope everyone is safe and weathered the storm without too much damage. We hope all of our dolphin families have power or getting it very soon. The directive from the Governor and Florida DOE is that everyone gets back to school on Wednesday, Oct 14. Our school was fortunate in that we only lost power for around 24 hours and all of our areas are safe and secure, with the exception of the Stringfellow Room which lost the top layer of the roof and had significant flooding inside. All other areas have AC working in the rooms. We understand some folks will have a some trouble getting to school. We will work with everyone on an individual basis. The campus is messy right now but we hope to get everything cleaned up tomorrow. Thanks for your understanding, stay safe, and have a great night.

Good afternoon,

On behalf of Dr. Barber, we hope that you and your families are safe following the storm and as clean up and recovery are ongoing.

District staff have been assessing damage to sites and campuses and the impact of Hurricane Isaias. Based on the information we have, campuses will not be ready for the return of students and staff on Tuesday, October 13th, and schools and district offices will continue to be closed. This includes all district- and school-sponsored activities, practices, and athletic contests. Crews will need additional time to complete the cleanup and recovery efforts at our schools and roads need to be clear and safe for school buses to run.

Our campuses remain closed and there should be no staff or visitors on campus. Also, all district and school sponsored activities, practices, and athletic contest are canceled, except for the regularly scheduled school board meeting on Tuesday, which will still take place.

At this time, we are waiting on information from Emergency Management, Florida Power and Light, and Escambia River Electric Co-op related to the clearing of roads and restoration of utilities, including power and water, to our schools, and from our maintenance department that our schools are clean, safe, and ready for students. Our goal is to open as soon as Wednesday, October 14th, but that determination will be made on a school-by-school basis by Tuesday evening.

If we are not ready for a complete county opening, families will be notified on a school by school basis.

As always, the health, safety and well-being of our students and staff is our highest priority. If families are in need of resources during this time, please contact the United Way at 211 to for resources and support.

Please stay tuned to district communication channels throughout the week for any additional information.
