This is outstanding work by our medical directors office, Heartland Medical Direction. This group puts out so much effort to better the quality of care taught to its agencies and education taught to EMS personnel. Fantastic job guys! 🚑 BIG NEWS FOR EMS EDUCATION! 🚑

We are excited to announce that Heartland Education has been awarded TWO major grants totaling $745,000 to support EMS education and workforce development!

Heartland Education has received:

🔹 $576,000 through a two-year SAMHSA grant — $288,000 per year
🔹 $169,000 through a one-year OERSSIRF grant

But the numbers aren't the most exciting part.

Here is what this means for EMS professionals and future EMS professionals:

🎓 12 Paramedic scholarships — FULL TUITION
🎓 30 Advanced EMT scholarships — FULL TUITION
🎓 30 EMT scholarships — FULL TUITION

That's 72 people who will have the opportunity to begin or advance their EMS careers without tuition standing in their way.

The funding will also allow us to provide additional continuing education opportunities for EMS professionals already serving our communities.

At Heartland Education, we believe investing in EMS education means investing directly in the communities we serve. Every EMT, Advanced EMT, and Paramedic we help educate represents another trained professional ready to answer the call when someone needs them most.

We are grateful for this investment in EMS and excited about what these grants will allow us to accomplish.

10:50 p.m. Update: We have confirmed that 911 service is restored.

The State Emergency Operations Center is aware of the ongoing AT&T issues affecting 911 calls in the state.

Portions of the state are currently affected by a 911 routing issue that began at approximately 4 p.m. today. The issue is causing some 911 calls to be misrouted to other parts of the state. 911 centers were notified and began transferring calls to the appropriate call centers as needed. At approximately 4:20 p.m., incoming calls were routed to the proper call center using predetermined 10 digit telephone lines. When calling 911 please be prepared to provide your location and telephone number.

Calls to 911 are still being answered, but if you experience trouble, please check with your local emergency management, police, fire, or 911 center for an alternate phone number for your area. Many local jurisdictions are posting back-up numbers on their page, X account, or website.

We are in close contact with our 911 partners and have not received any assistance requests from local jurisdictions.

**DO NOT call 911 to test your service.

🚫🔥🚫 LOGAN GOUNTY BURN BAN 🚫🔥🚫

As of this morning, the Logan County Commissioners put on a new 14 day burn ban. If you see smoke, don’t hesitate to call 911. Conditions are still extremely dry and vegetation is still very dormant, which makes for dangerous fire conditions.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wellston Fire Department and the family of one of their fallen firefighters. This incident is a tragic loss and they need all the support and grace they can get.

Please keep them in your prayers and reach out to them if you feel like making a monetary donation to assist the family with funeral expenses. We will pass along a link or contact for such donations as soon as it becomes available.

🚫🔥🚫 BURN BAN EXTENDED 🚫🔥🚫

For those who missed it, the Logan Co Board of Commissioners extended the Burn Ban another 14 days. We realize some citizens are frustrated about this, but this is for the safety of everyone across the county. Approx half the counties in Oklahoma are under a burn ban and with good reason. Until we see some significant rainfall, this will continue to be an issue. The fire conditions are very dangerous at this time, so we’re doing everything possible to help prevent any property damage and potential loss of life. Better to be proactive rather than reactive. Attached you’ll find a copy of the resolution describing the burn ban in detail.

Just a quick reminder going into this holiday weekend, the Logan County Burn Ban is still in effect. We realize this is an inconvenience and frustrating for some. But many don’t realize the extreme dangers the current conditions pose to our citizens throughout the county. This is for everyone’s safety. If you light a fire of any kind and it gets away from, accidentally or not, you can be legally held liable for any and all damage that occurs. So please be patient, be safe and pray for lots of rain because we desperately need it. Thank you and have a safe holiday weekend.
