Late last week, our department received a notification from Northampton Police about an assaultive male on the Rail Trail.
Upon arrival, Sgt. Romano and Officer Delgado walked onto the Rail Trail at Cross Path Road where they observed what appeared to be a male attacking two females. Both officers ran to their aid where they were able to take the male into custody.

The arrested male is not local, and this incident is isolated.

Regardless, we ask that Rail Trail users to use vigilance, and to remain aware of their surroundings.

If you see a police cruiser on the bike path, we have already begun high-visibility patrols in response to this incident.
