A huge shoutout to Melissa from the Hagerstown Olive Garden! 🫒💙

Our officers were working hard out in the heat today, so Cadet Weaver and Lt. Plummer headed over to MARTIN’S on Wesel Blvd to grab them some much-needed water. When they went to check out, their only payment method wouldn’t go through. Seeing the situation, Melissa kindly stepped up without hesitation and generously bought the water for our team out of her own pocket.

We are grateful for her random act of kindness! Melissa, the whole Police Department thanks you, and we will definitely do our best to pay it forward.

🎉 WE HAVE A WINNER! 🎉

Huge congratulations to Angela, the winner of our summer giveaway! Angela is taking home a complimentary 3-Month Premier Membership to Onelife Fitness, packed with an awesome bundle of wellness goodies! 🏋️‍♂️✨

Over the summer, our team was out at multiple community events across town. Everyone who stopped by our table and showed us they were following our HPD Community Connection page could enter the drawing to win.

A massive thank you to Onelife Fitness for their incredible generosity! Their facility features an indoor saltwater pool, hot tub, cardio cinema, basketball court, hydromassage, sauna, boxing studio, and group classes. We are so grateful for their support!

Finally, thank you to every single person who came out to chat with us, support our initiatives, and follow our page this summer. We loved getting to connect with all of you, and can't wait until the next time!

It’s Back to School time! Meet our Hagerstown Police Department School Resource Officers (SROs) 👮‍♂️👮‍♀️📚

Our SROs do far more than protect our school halls—they spend every day building trust, mentoring, and being a supportive presence for our community's youth.

We asked our team what they love most about being an SRO, and here is what they had to say:

🤝 Daily Connections: "My favorite part of being an SRO is the interaction I get to have on a daily basis with the kids. I like to think that I’m making a difference in their lives while also showing them that I’m just a normal person who loves what they do."

🤲 Building Trust: "My favorite part is building relationships with the students and being someone they can trust and come to when they need help. It’s rewarding to have a positive impact on them beyond just the law enforcement side of the job."

Whether it's high-fives in the hallway, working through tough moments, or catching up in the cafeteria over lunch, our officers are dedicated to being there for our students every step of the way.

K9 Spotlight: Officer Cramer & Belle 🐾💙

If you want to know how deep the bond is between a police officer and their K9 partner, just ask Officer Tim Cramer—he actually got a tattoo of his partner, Belle, so she's with him wherever he goes!

Officer Cramer recently gave us a peek into what life is really like with Belle on and off duty:

⏰ It’s a 24/7 job: Belle lives with Officer Cramer full-time. Between rigorous training multiple times a month and daily shifts, they are always side-by-side. (And Officer Cramer says Belle is at her happiest when she's working!)

⚡ Speed, focus, and trust: Belle is ridiculously fast, tracks human scent effortlessly, and can turn on a dime. Officer Cramer loves her size because it means when a tall fence gets in their way, he can physically pick her up and hoist her right over to keep the track going—a huge test of trust that she handles like a pro!

🏡 Off-duty family time: When the vest comes off, Belle is a sweet, social girl who loves getting supervised family time at home.

🚔 Double duty: A lot of people are surprised to learn our K9 handlers don't just wait for special calls—they work regular patrol shifts and handle everyday calls for service all across Hagerstown, too.

We’re so lucky to have dedicated teams like Officer Cramer and Belle keeping our city safe. Drop a comment to show them some love! 🐕‍🦺

Officer Ortiz was very busy on Saturday, first learning to juggle and demonstrating the real-time translation feature on the HPD’s body cameras at the ENOUGH Summer Bash. After that, he headed to the Cibus Mission’s Get Fresh 4 School event, where kids ages 7 to 18 got free haircuts and hygiene products before they head back to school this week.

Here's a throwback to a fantastic evening earlier this summer! ☀️📸 We’re catching up on sharing some favorite moments from the block party at Mulberry Lofts on July 30th.

Officer Hall and Officer Ortiz enjoyed hanging out with our friends at the Hagerstown Fire Department, letting kids explore the police car, and handing out important resources to the community.

While the Downtown Hagerstown Community Block Party series has now officially come to a close, the fun isn't stopping! You can still catch us hanging out in the neighborhood at two community events this weekend, with lots more to come.

Today was a wonderful day for community connection. We kicked it off from 10 AM to 3 PM with the Hagerstown Housing Authority Fair, and finished the day from 6 PM to 8 PM with the Downtown Hagerstown Community Block Party in Hager Park. We gave out notebooks donated by Starbucks to help get kids ready for school, as well as squishy HPD branded police cars and Junior Police Officer stickers. Hope to see you next week at the last of this summer’s Community Block Party in the parking lot of Hagerstown Church!

You all enjoyed Officer Basta and Officer Romberger’s musical cup duet—here are some more photos from the wonderful Family Healthcare of Hagerstown Fair on August 6th 🎉

We loved giving out temporary tattoos, playing Toss Across (bean bag tic tac toe), and sharing our K-9s with our community. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello! 🚔🐶
