Hey!
Let’s talk Trunk or Treat…
As you know, Trick or Treat is planned for the town of Leitersburg on Saturday, October 24th from 5:30 through 8:00.
The Leitersburg Volunteer Fire Co. will be hosting a Trunk or Treat at the same time!!
We have a few things planned, including treats and goodies for the kids at the fire house - and best of all, YOU can participate.
Bring your car, truck, van, tractor, UTV, wagon, wheelbarrow, elephant (it has a trunk, right?) - whatever - set it up in our lot … Trunk or Treat for the kids.
It’s gonna be a blast!!
If you want to set up, let us know - send us a message or leave a comment below and we’ll hold a spot for you!! We still have plenty of room. Unless you plan on bringing a train, or one of those big quarry dump trucks - we may not have room for those. But we can accommodate your Kia for sure.
Set up will be around 5pm with kiddos arriving around 5:30.

We hope to see you there!!!

Well, Isia - Isai - Isai- whatever - that Hurricane that came in from the Gulf has finally made it into our area.
So now, it’s raining. And raining pretty steady.

So what does one do on a rainy Sunday?

Well, you could be like this guy. Looks like he’s leaving the WalMart with his fresh vegetables, prescription, some kind of glittery Christmas ornament, and nothing from the so-called “clearance” rack. Looks like he did get him a new pair of flip-flops or fleece lined slippers because he’s trying not to get them wet.

OR…

You can spend a nice quiet day at home, tuning in to football or your favorite horror flick, sipping on a mug of warm c***r as the smell of pumpkin spice fills the air. Or maybe that’s wet dog. I get the two mixed up.

And you can play our raffle for a chance to go see the Ravens play the Browns, includes parking pass and 4 tickets - visit www.leitersburgfire.org. To get your tickets.

Well what else is there to do?

Um, you could clean your ceiling fans, or dust behind the couch. You could dig through the cushions for loose change, but you won’t find any. You could go through your junk drawer, but be sure not to throw anything away. Oooh, oooh, you could finally match up all those rogue socks that are lying there in a pile, clean your dryer vent or inventory your spice rack. That Cream of Tartar expired in the last century, but it’s probably still good. No one really knows what it’s used for anyways.

OR…

You can play our 50/50. That’s right, it’s still going on and the big drawing is scheduled for the 15th!! Guaranteed $100,000 grand prize and you could win half, but you gotta play to win. Click that link below.

Choose wisely!!
Oh, and stay dry.

The sad reality is that many of these chargers sold on-line and at discount stores do not meet the official regulatory safety tests. Any electrical device should be tested and certified carry a verified seal on the packaging, like UL (Underwriters Laboratories), ETL, CSA or CE. Beware of the imposters!!

“Yeah, but they’re much cheaper.”

Exactly - but the risks include electrical shock/electrocution, fire and overheating and possible device damage.
Substandard wiring can fray and short out, causing you or your loved ones to get zapped.

Substandard circuitry lacks proper temperature and power regulation, which can cause the charger and nearby materials to overheat and ignite. And since most people charge their devices near your bed, that’s a problem.if you’re fortunate enough to sleep with asbestos sheets and a Kevlar pillow, you’ll probably be fine, the rest of us, however, prefer an inordinately high thread count on our organic cotton sheets and bamboo ultra-cooling pillow.

Lastly, device damage can occur. You paid over a grand for that cell phone or tablet and now you want to charge it with a 10 cent charger. C’mon, you know better.

“Ya know, that’s how they git ya!”

Yes. Yes it is.

As a proud supporter of , the NVFC is reminding you to use the cord and charger that came with your device or ones approved by the manufacturer. Using the wrong charger can damage the battery and increase the risk of fire. For more info: fpw.org.

Saturday, units and personnel participated in similtaneous events, including Special Unit 9, Chief 9 and a crew of 4 volunteers working the Hagerstown Airport Disaster Drill. Personnel assisted with patient evacuation and transfer of care. Utility 9 was also in attendance fulfilling fire police needs with another of our volunteer staff.
A second crew of 3 volunteers had Rescue Engine 91 on display at Beard’s Church for their event.
While that was going on, DC Baker worked on replacing the alternator in Support 90 and maintaining staffing, along with our DES career personnel, to ensure out area remained covered.
Your firefighters, volunteer and career, working for you!
