This morning, Code Compliance Officers McCollough and Jimenez went above and beyond while out in the community.

After noticing a citizen experiencing car trouble, the officers stopped to help and worked together to safely push the disabled vehicle out of the roadway. Their quick actions helped keep traffic moving and ensured the safety of the driver and other motorists.

Acts of service come in many forms, and today was a great reminder that helping others is at the heart of what we do.

Thank you, Officers McCollough and Jimenez, for lending a hand and making a positive difference in someone’s day.

Please help us congratulate Sergeant LaTorian Turner on successfully completing the National Public Safety Innovation Academy (NIA), Class 7. Hosted by Polk State College’s Kenneth C. Thompson Institute of Public Safety, the rigorous eight-week leadership program prepares public safety professionals to lead with purpose, embrace innovation, and help strengthen their agencies for the future.

“Investing in leadership development is critical to the future success of our department and the professionals who serve our community each day. The NIA provides leaders with the opportunity to grow their skills, challenge their perspectives, and set the standard for excellence throughout the organization.” – Haines City Police Chief Isaac Jackson

We commend Sergeant Turner for his dedication to professional development and for continuing to represent the Haines City Police Department with professionalism and pride.

Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Haines City Police Department K-9 Unit as our newest K-9, Zesus, and his handler, Officer Glover, officially started K-9 school this morning.

Zesus was made possible through the incredible generosity and support of our community partners. We would like to sincerely thank Wendy and Bruce “Rooster” Mathews, and Amanda Howard of Central Hose & Fittings, LLC, Larry Kahoun, Charlie Carnes and Beverly Whitman of C C Calhoun, Inc., Lynn Burch of Over the Hill Welding, and Alan Kitto of Kitto Sheds and Equipment for their donations and commitment to helping grow our K-9 program.

In addition to helping make Zesus possible, Wendy Mathews also had a custom leash and collar made for Zesus featuring his name as he begins his journey with our department.

This morning, Pastor Shawn Saylor from Stillwater Christian Life Center joined the Mathews family and Amber Howard to pray over our K-9 teams as Zesus and Officer Glover begin their training journey together.

We are extremely thankful for the continued support from our community and are excited to watch this new K-9 duo grow and serve the citizens of Haines City.

Welcome to the family, Zesus!

As we spend time with family and friends today, we pause to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We also extend our gratitude to all veterans and active-duty military members for their continued service to our nation.
