This weeks staff pick of the week is Gerson:

Title: The Treasure Hunters Club
Author: Tom Ryan
Genre: Mystery Thriller, Fiction, Adventure

About: Following the lives of an amateur author, a young girl with strong conviction, and a man who gets a mysterious letter from his long-lost grandmother, a tale of hidden pirate treasure looms over the historical town of Maple Bay, Novia Scotia. Through townsfolk interactions and tales from beyond the grave, the search for answers enveloping the elusive local treasure begins to complicate when bodies are found dead.

Why she recommends: I’m a full-time enjoyer of the mystery genre, and Tom Ryan took a creatively fun turn on what I would have expected with a simple mystery novel. Although it may seem like a long read with 300+ pages, the detail in each conversation amongst characters and the easy-to-understand story-telling makes it worthwhile. Some highlights of the book were unexpected perspective changes of story-telling, witty humor in the dialogue, relatable character profiles of all ages, subtle q***r representation, and the big reveal at the end of any good mystery novel that will make you want to reread the story all over again!

Check it out at the Haledon Public Library!
