Ribbon Cutting Celebration! ✂️🎉

This morning, the Kennebec Valley Chamber was honored to celebrate the Grand Reopening of the Maine State Museum alongside Governor Janet Mills with an official Ribbon Cutting!

The Maine State Museum plays an important role in preserving and sharing Maine's rich and unique history. For generations, the museum has provided Maine students, residents, and visitors with opportunities to explore the people, places, and events that have shaped our state. Its reopening marks an exciting milestone for education, history, and culture in Maine. 🏛️

Following this morning's ceremony, the museum officially reopened its doors with a full day of festivities, including free admission (until December 31st), live music, activities, and the debut of several new exhibits and refreshed favorites! 🌲

We had a great turnout at this month’s Business After Hours at Dave's Appliance, Inc. in Winthrop, hosted in collaboration with the Winthrop Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce! 🍂

Guests enjoyed a beautiful fall spread, explored Dave's Appliance's brand-new location, and got a sneak peek at their Black Friday deals happening throughout November! 🛍️

The evening also brought some exciting updates from the Winthrop Lakes Region Chamber as they look ahead to a new chapter. We're excited to work alongside them through this transition and continue supporting the Winthrop business community!

Last week, the KV Chamber and our amazing volunteers spent the day taking over 175 7th graders from Cony Middle and High School and Maine Arts Academy on our annual 7th UP Business Tours, an opportunity for students to visit local businesses and discover the amazing (and sometimes unexpected!) career paths waiting for them right here in the Kennebec Valley. 💼

A huge thank you to the 19 local businesses and organizations who opened their doors and shared their time and expertise with us during busy workdays! Participating businesses included Augusta District Courthouse, Augusta Maine Fire-Rescue, Augusta Maine Police Department, Bangor Savings Bank, Central Maine Power, Charlie's Family of Dealerships, Cushnoc Brewing Co., Gallant Therapy Services, Hannaford Supermarkets, J.S. Please help us welcome Reid Johnson, our new Membership Coordinator, to the Kennebec Valley Chamber team! 🎉

Originally from South Berwick, Reid graduated from Montana State University with a degree in Political Science. Having spent her summers growing up in Belgrade, she is excited to be back in the Kennebec Valley and looks forward to meeting our members, getting to know the local business community, and working alongside the Chamber team!

Outside of work, Reid enjoys skiing, hiking, and spending time outdoors, as well as reading a good book. She's also a big coffee lover, so she'll fit right in at our office! ☕

We're excited to have Reid on the team and can't wait for our members to get to know her!

Join the Kennebec Valley Chamber and the Maine State Museum to celebrate their grand reopening with an official ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 24! 🎉✂

Following the ribbon cutting, featuring remarks and Maine Humorist Gary Crocker, the museum doors will officially open for a full day of festivities, with free admission for all! Guests can enjoy complimentary drinks and donuts from the Morning Moose Coffee Truck, food and drinks from the Cheese the Day food truck, live music in the Cultural Building Atrium, rotating exhibit-related activities and other surprises throughout the day! 🕍

Visitors can also explore several new exhibits and spaces making their debut, along with refreshed favorites returning to the museum.
