It’s been a hectic week and I am late posting. ARV (American Response Vehicles) Delivered Medic 21 AEV Traumahawk to us on Monday, we will be working on getting equipment and communications installed. We went back simplified on graphics to match the new engine. Thanks Tim for all your work.

The Kansas Board of EMS spent time with us today doing our inspections. We were deficiency and error free on the Service, Education, and Ambulance. They will be coming back to inspect the new ambulance after it arrives and is set up to get it licensed.

Save the date Halstead Fire/EMS annual pancake & sausage feed fundraiser will be October 24th 8 am to 11:30 am. One of our own firefighters daughter has been diagnosed with leukemia and our fundraising will be benefiting the family this year.

Emergency Apparatus Maintenance company is in doing maintenance on both Engines and the Tender. Full vehicle and pump service, then will pump test all 3.

C-Shift responded to a home explosion in the 3000 block of Southeast 48th around 8 pm. Upon arrival crews found one individual with burn injuries and a fire in the basement. The patient was transported by ambulance to Wichita. The fire was extinguished but not before causing moderate damage to the home. No pets or firefighters were injured during this incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Newton Fire/EMS was assisted by Walton Fire, Whitewater Fire, Sedgwick Fire/EMS, Halstead Fire/EMS, and Harvey County Sheriff. We also want to thank Hesston Fire/EMS for covering calls in Newton during this incident.
