🚩 ASHLEY COUNTY — FIRE WEATHER ALERT 🚩

The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued the following:

🔴 RED FLAG WARNING
Friday, October 16 | 9 AM–8 PM CDT

⚠️ FIRE WEATHER WATCH
Saturday, October 17 | 11 AM–7 PM CDT

Strong north winds, low humidity, and critically dry vegetation could cause fires to spread rapidly. Winds of 15–25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph, are expected behind a cold front.

ASHLEY COUNTY REMAINS UNDER A BURN BAN. DO NOT BURN.

Cooler temperatures do not eliminate the fire danger. Avoid activities that create sparks or open flames, secure trailer chains, dispose of ci******es properly, and keep vehicles off dry grass.

If you spot a wildfire, call 911 immediately. Stay clear of the area so firefighters can respond safely.

Please share this information. One spark can put homes, lives, and our first responders at risk.

🚩 RED FLAG WARNING — ASHLEY COUNTY 🚩

The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a Red Flag Warning for Friday, October 16, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM CDT. A Fire Weather Watch is also in effect Saturday, October 17, from morning through evening.

Conditions will favor rapid fire growth and spread:

• North winds of 15–25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph.
• Relative humidity as low as 25–40%.
• Critically dry grass, brush, and other vegetation.

PLEASE DO NOT BURN. Avoid activities that produce sparks or open flames. Dispose of ci******es properly, secure trailer chains, and keep vehicles off dry grass.

A small spark can quickly become a dangerous wildfire. If you see an unattended fire or signs of a wildfire, call 911 immediately.

**ASHLEY COUNTY — THE BURN BAN IS STILL IN EFFECT!**

**YES, THE WEATHER IS GETTING COOLER, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN IT IS SAFE TO BURN!**

As temperatures begin to drop and fall weather settles in, the Ashley County Office of Emergency Management wants to remind everyone that **THE BURN BAN REMAINS IN EFFECT!**

**COOLER TEMPERATURES DO NOT ELIMINATE THE DANGER OF WILDFIRES!**

Dry grass, fallen leaves, brush, and windy conditions can turn one small spark into a dangerous wildfire in a matter of minutes.

**WE ARE ASKING EVERY RESIDENT OF ASHLEY COUNTY TO DO THEIR PART!**

❌ DO NOT burn leaves, brush, or yard debris.

❌ DO NOT use burn barrels.

❌ DO NOT start outdoor fires.

❌ DO NOT assume that cooler weather or a little rainfall means the burn ban has been lifted.

**OUR FIREFIGHTERS HAVE ALREADY SACRIFICED COUNTLESS HOURS PROTECTING OUR COUNTY. LET'S NOT PUT THEM OR OUR COMMUNITIES AT UNNECESSARY RISK!**

**ONE CARELESS FIRE CAN DESTROY HOMES, PROPERTY, AND LIVES. IT ONLY TAKES ONE SPARK!**
