San Antonio, TX’s new budget raises several EMS fees, including a nearly $1,300 charge to private assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and independent living facilities when EMS responds to help a resident who has fallen… lift assist calls that don’t require transport. Ambulance transport now costs $1,700, plus $12 per mile and a $49 medical supplies fee, while aid without transport increased from $100 to $150. City officials say the higher fees better reflect the cost of providing service and are expected to generate more than $3 million this fiscal year.
