At MOVIE NIGHT last night, when we released what our school musical would be this year-(Matilda!)-one of the parents of an ACES Wintergreen Creative was quoted as saying,”the events that happen at Wintergreen are not comparable to any other school. They are excellent! Last week I was at The Shubert… this week I’m watching a movie at the school on a Friday night… what’s happening next… we can’t wait!!”
True story.
Our next event is our annual “Family
Art Night” in collaboration with the southern Connecticut State University our education department. Bring your family do some art and have some pizza. That’s happening Tuesday, October 20 from:
5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Our ACES Wintergreen theme this year:
“One Community, One Purpose”.
Here is a PERFECT example of that coming alive this afternoon at ACES WIMS!
Fifth grade teacher and both ACES WIMS and SCSU alumni, Donovan Doviak, wrote a grant through the ACES Education Foundation with SCSU College of Education, Teaching and Learning Dept. Chair, Dr. Adam Goldberg. The grant brings together Dr. Goldberg‘s freshman lnquiry class with Mr. Doviak‘s fifth graders. They will be collaborating for five weeks in a culminating project the evening of November 18 to engage families in the lessons that they’ve learned and want to share out. Today was the first day of them getting together. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome .

ACES WIMS is the school “Where Arts Inspires Learning!”This just in from Ms. Marcella’s first graders:

“Today we used a visual glossary to inspire our own glossaries! Students described adjectives from our read aloud through art! We used color pencils and other coloring utensils and created images through colors, lines and shapes that show what the adjective means…”
