On Friday 10/16/2026 around 5:10 p.m., Miami University Police Detectives contacted New Miami Police for assistance with locating a vehicle and laptop computer that were stolen from a campus visitor on Thursday. Information led officers to the 200 block of Whitaker Avenue where they located TERRANCE KING (B/M/42) of New Miami who was in possession of the laptop but claimed to have no knowledge of the stolen vehicle's location. While conducting an investigation, Mr. KING fled from officers due to an active arrest warrant issued by Hamilton Municipal Court for Failure To Appear on a Probation Violation. Officers and Deputies from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office Drone Unit attempted to locate Mr. KING without success. New Miami Police located Mr. KING approximately 45 minutes later and learned that Mr. KING had turned himself in to Hamilton Police and had his arrest warrant cleared after being assigned a new court date. Officers arrested TERRANCE KING and booked him into the Butler County Jail for Receiving Stolen Property (Felony 5) and Obstructing Official Business (Misdemeanor 2). Officers returned the recovered laptop to the owner. The auto theft remains under investigation by Miami University Police Department.
