We love having the opportunity to visit with our new Junior Fire Marshals in the 3rd grade at Hamilton Elementary!
They learned about fire safety in and around the home today, as well as when to call 911, how to plan an escape route, and how important a meeting place is once you get outside. Oh, and we can forget, they learned what sound a smoke alarm makes!

Thank you to all the teachers for letting us come!

Huge shout out to the gracious soul for picking up our tab at Los Amigos afterwards, we hope that the Lord blesses you mightily!

This week, Recruit Class 26-09 completed SCBA Week at the Muscle Shoals Regional Training Center.

Throughout the week, recruits worked on essential firefighter skills, including searching for and removing victims from a structure, operating in limited-visibility conditions, and building confidence while working in full PPE and SCBA.

SCBA Week is an important part of recruit school and helps prepare these future firefighters to remain calm, confident, and effective in challenging environments.

🤝 Investing in the Safety and Resilience of Hamilton 🚒🚔

Emergency management is a team effort, and preparedness begins long before a disaster strikes. Members of Hamilton’s Public Safety command staff recently attended the Alabama Emergency Management Agency’s Resilience Summit.

The summit focused heavily on leadership, cross-agency coordination, and clear communication—before, during, and immediately following major emergencies.

Attending events like these is essential to refining our local response strategies, but the biggest takeaway was clear: we need to replicate these collaborative discussions right here at home.

Our command team is already working to bring these lessons back to Marion County to ensure all local responding agencies remain seamless, synchronized, and ready to serve our community when it matters most.

Thank you to the Alabama Emergency Management Agency for hosting an impactful event!

🚒 EXCITING NEWS FOR OUR COMMUNITY & FIREFIGHTERS! 🚒

We are proud to share that the Hamilton Fire Department has been awarded a federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) through FEMA!

This grant funding will allow us to install a direct source capture diesel exhaust removal system in our engine bays.

Why is this so important?

Every time a fire truck starts up, toxic diesel exhaust fills the bay floor. Without a direct capture system, those fumes and carcinogens can drift into living quarters and onto firefighter gear. This new system attaches directly to vehicle tailpipes, suctioning exhaust fumes out of the station the moment an engine starts, and automatically releasing as trucks pull out for emergency calls.

Protecting our first responders goes beyond the gear they wear on a scene—it means ensuring the air they breathe right here at the station is safe. Securing these federal grant funds allows us to eliminate a major health hazard at the source while protecting local taxpayer dollars.

Work on the system will begin in the coming months as we complete procurement and installation.

Thank you to our community for your continued support as we work to keep our firefighters—and Hamilton—safe!

🚒 PUBLIC NOTICE – FIRE DEPARTMENT TRAINING 🚒
09/15/2026

Hamilton Fire & Rescue would like to advise the public that there will be an increased presence of fire department personnel and apparatus throughout the city as our crews conduct training and pre-fire planning.

You may notice firefighters and fire apparatus in and around the following locations:

• Court Square / Downtown Hamilton
• Hamilton City Hall
• Walmart
• Hamilton First Baptist Church
• Hamilton Church of Christ
• Ashwood Apartments

There is no cause for alarm. Our crews will be familiarizing themselves with these properties, discussing apparatus placement, access points, fire protection systems, and other important information that will help us respond more effectively in the event of an emergency.

We appreciate the cooperation of our local businesses, churches, residents, and community as we continue working to better prepare and serve the City of Hamilton.
