The observation of Indigenous Peoples’ Day counters false historical narratives embedded within the celebration of Columbus Day. It recognizes that Native people are the first inhabitants of the Americas, including the lands that later became the U.S. and it urges Americans to rethink history. On this day, people are encouraged to remember and celebrate the many Native people who have traditionally lived and currently live in the U.S and its territories.

NEW EYES ON OLD PROBLEMS will end complacency!!
I have said I would be clear and honest as a Town Supervisor. So let me start here and modify one of my posts with new information. The Asbestos report from 2017 looked at several buildings at the old DuffyMott location. The report was for Pre Demolition and only looked at the roof because that was determined to only be reasonable to have asbestos in the material. When I and some others looked at the report there were several buildings that were in fact deemed negligible or a trace of asbestos or free of asbestos. What I missed was there were 2 of the 9 that had 4% asbestos and 1 with 3% and 1 with 2% in the roofing material the other 5 buildings were free of asbestos or less than 1%
Because it was cold storage buildings it was not recommended they look for asbestos other than the roof

With that said … yes there was asbestos… yes it needed abatement. Would it cost millions? No!!!
Which brings me to the next PROBLEM… who the heck owns it???

My next sleuthing has brought some amazing answers. To be continued…

For those who know I’m running for Hamlin Town Supervisor I just want you to know there are some who will tell you that they have done this or that and have worked to single handed made your Town better. But let me tell you from my experience no one has done anything by themselves. It does take a village or better yet a town.
When I walk into our Town Hall I see our Town Clerk and Deputy working and doing their job and smiling and helping others. I see the Recreation Department rocking!!! You would not believe what this department does unless you spend a day with them. I have! And if there’s a Festival… oh my gosh they kick in high gear! The building department is always doing something… as the name implies: issuing permits looking at codes and compliance. Supporting other boards Gathering tons of paperwork Answering phones and questions, putting packets together for Planning and Zoning Boards and Conservation plus so much more. Then there’s the Assessor’s department. You might remember Hamlin had a full assessment recently… you have no idea how much work that was. And yet every time I go in that office there’s a smile and what can I do for you.
Then Accounting the women that keep everything straight and help to keep our tax dollars and our bills paid. Those people do their jobs too. The Fire Marshal is in there too and always wiling to do his part. And the Highway Department works their butts off all around town!!! The Supervisor should be a facilitator and leader of these people. Good leadership and teamwork is the key. The board that’s elected gets the work done and they are the ones with the support from all the departments at the Town Hall who get the credit.

When my husband and I owned and ran a Chevy dealership we did not put our Name on it. We called it TEAM Chevrolet because that’s what it was. We didn’t take credit for their work.

Just got back from the Hilton Apple Fest. Long day. I helped some other candidates but really wanted to promote Hamlin’s Christmas Market that I started 3 years ago when I was appointed to head the Cultural Committee in Hamlin. I had suggested the Christmas Market as an idea because of my visits to the markets in Germany and Hamlin’s German heritage. It just seemed natural to have a Christmas Market here. This will be our 4th one and I believe the BEST. Save the Date December 12th
I was pretty warm with my sweatshirt…. But worth it.

If anyone sees anyone stealing the opposing party’s signs or doing anything to their signs to cause damage… please say something or report it on this page. Some of our signs have been damaged or destroyed and I would hate to think it’s happening to our opponent as well.
Our Democratic Party and Committee has never acted like that before and should never in the future.
Thank you

We have been told and told again that the old Duffy Mott building was contaminated and full of asbestos!! That buyers beware it would cost a fortune to clean it up and demolish it.
I kept thinking really??? Who says!!! I finally asked for the asbestos test results done in 2017. And guess what?? The assessment and test was so low for asbestos it was deemed NEGATIVE!!!! I also went back and looked at the Towns minutes when they discussed that report and the possibility of demolition of the building and decided not to do it because they didn’t think they could put the cost of the demolition on the tax account for the building. Now mind you the owner had stopped paying taxes in 2012!!! Five years prior!!!

What the heck????
