The New Jersey State Park Police were proud to participate in this year’s Law Enforcement Torch Run, joining thousands of law enforcement officers from across the state in support of the incredible athletes of Special Olympics New Jersey.

The Torch Run is more than just a run… it’s a symbol of inclusion, determination, and the unwavering spirit of the athletes who inspire us every day. Our officers were honored to carry the “Flame of Hope” alongside our law enforcement partners, helping raise awareness and support for the athletes who will compete in the Special Olympics Summer Games.

We are grateful for the opportunity to stand with these remarkable athletes and to continue our long-standing commitment to serving our communities both on and off duty.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, and cheered along the route. Together, we help ensure that every athlete has the opportunity to shine.

Meet Jeanne, Officer Somers and Officer Todaro, or as Jeanne lovingly calls them, her “earth angels.”

One year ago today, April 13, 2025, Jeanne experienced a medical emergency in the campgrounds at Spruce Run. In a moment that would change everything, Officer Todaro, alongside Officer Somers, sprang into action and performed CPR. Because of their quick response, skill, and unwavering commitment, Jeanne is here today.

The balloon Jeanne is holding carries a message that says it all, “Happy Birthday.” It was brought to her by Officer Todaro during her recovery, a heartfelt reminder of what he humbly calls her “new birthday.”

This photo captures more than a reunion, it captures compassion, courage, and the profound impact of public service. We are deeply grateful to our New Jersey State Park Police officers for their dedication, professionalism, and the care they show to every visitor, every day.

Thank you for being there when it matters most.
