After years of preparation, lots of meetings and multitudes of phone calls, emails and the like culminating in a long 10-day stretch and a solid full week of fire safety inspections and fire and haz-mat course coverage for the 126th U.S.G.A. U.S. Open, it has come to an end.
So proud of our team and the assistance we received from our partner agencies to provide protection to the multitudes of people from around the globe who attended one of professional golf’s major events. Job well done by all!

Note: The following team members were not present at the time of the photo and worked the event;
Gustavo Putzulu, Melissa Rankin, Charlie Schneider and Kyle DeRosa from Southampton Code Enforcement, Andrew Smith and Jordan Palmer from Riverhead Fire Marshals office and Chris Osborne from Quogue Village Code Enforcement

Our new fire investigation unit is now in service. Interior storage space exceeds our previous unit, which has served our office well for over a decade after a life of service in EMS.
This new truck is equipped with an inverter for scene lighting, a canopy and carries a full complement of communication equipment which can allow it to serve as a command post. A few more finishing touches for the command area still to be done, but she is ready to respond.
Thank you to Fire Marshal II Ryan White for specing and laying out the interior storage shelving and cabinets as well as the Southampton Town Board and Director Ryan Murphy for all of the much needed support in making this endeavor possible.

With the winter storm and extreme cold coming in the next few days, please remember to keep the roadways clear so the plow operators can do their jobs, dig out at least 3’ around fire hydrants so firefighters can get to the hydrants and do their jobs. Do not use barbecues or generators indoors (even in a garage!), make sure to have flashlights or other battery powered lights available. Make sure your phones and other rechargeable devices are fully charged in the event of a power outage.
Check on your neighbors, especially the elderly. Be safe, everyone.

Blessed for Success! Vicar General of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, Father Alexander Karloutsos of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Hamptons blessed our new tethered drone for its first full functionality flight today in Southampton. This will prove to be a tremendous new asset for the Fire Marshal’s Office.
