𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲, 𝟮𝟬𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗛𝗢𝗥𝗦𝗘!

Our Virginia Air National Guard heavy-construction engineers are back after a historic deployment to the Pacific under the 𝟓𝟏𝟑𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐒𝐄 banner!

This Total Force mission was a massive multi-state success. Our team partnered with the Florida Air National Guard’s 202nd RED HORSE (assigned to the 125th Fighter Wing) and the active-duty 819th RED HORSE from Montana to revitalize historic WWII-era airfields on Tinian and set the theater for Agile Combat Employment.
From navigating 𝙩𝙬𝙤 𝘾𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙤𝙧𝙮 5 𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙣𝙨 to cutting through solid coral, they overcame every hurdle.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
🛠️ 𝙏𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝘼𝙞𝙧𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙: Hit 99% demolition and flattening on Runway Able, mixing 16,000+ tons of asphalt for paving.
🏢 𝘼𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙣 𝘼𝙁𝘽 (𝙂𝙪𝙖𝙢): Erected the final two massive storage warehouses in a blistering 24 hours.
🇯🇵 𝙅𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙣 𝘼𝙞𝙧 𝘽𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙨 (𝙈𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙬𝙖 & 𝘼𝙩𝙨𝙪𝙜𝙞): Built six supply structures to 99% completion, fully outfitted with electrical and climate control.
✝️ 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝟏𝟗𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐬! Our deployed religious support teams kept morale high, delivering over 500 lbs of requested gear and 48 morale packages across the island after the storms.

𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚, 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙢! 𝙒𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙮 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚.

On Sept. 12, 2026, the 192nd Operations Group welcomed Col. Peter Liggieri as its new commander during a change of command ceremony at Joint Base Langley-Eustis.

Col. Andrew M. Weidner, 192nd Wing commander, presided as Col. Matthew B. Woodfield relinquished command following an extraordinary year of combat operations, global contingency taskings and multi-domain mission demands.

“The last year has been the most unprecedented in my time, and you had more going on than most,” Weidner told Woodfield. “The operations group is better and more prepared because of your leadership.”

As he assumed command, Liggieri reflected on the responsibility ahead: “I am truly humbled and honored to be a part of this team. I have no doubt we will be ready.”

Please join us in thanking Col. Woodfield for his leadership and welcoming Col. Liggieri to command!

Today, the 192nd Wing pauses to look back, reflect and honor. We are resharing this tribute from 2020, featuring the personal reflections of our own members of the VaANG as they looked back on the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001.

Each photo and caption reminds us where we stood, how our lives changed and why we continue to answer the call to serve. As we view these memories, we pause to honor all those who were killed on that fateful day. We also remember and salute the profound, enduring sacrifices made by the first responders, volunteers and service members in the days, weeks and years that followed.

Our mission, our readiness and our dedication to defending freedom remain rooted in the promise we made a quarter-century ago: We will never forget. 🇺🇸
