Hampton Police Department has seen an increase of drivers that are driving with a beginner's permit only with no licensed driver 21 years of age or older in the passenger seat. This is a reminder that a beginner's permit is NOT a restricted driver's license, and the operator must have a valid licensed driver 21+ yrs old in the passenger seat.
It is Unlawful for parent or guardian to permit unauthorized minor to drive under SC Code of law 56-1-490 and the parent or guardian may be charged.

👮‍♂️ Celebrating 38 Years of Dedicated Service! 🎉

The Town of Hampton gathered on August 27, 2026, to celebrate the retirement of Police Chief Perry McAlhaney, who dedicated an incredible 38 years of service to the citizens of the Town of Hampton.

Throughout his career, Chief McAlhaney demonstrated an unwavering commitment to protecting and serving our community. His years of leadership, dedication, and sacrifice have left a lasting impact on the Town of Hampton and the many lives he has touched along the way.

We also want to recognize his wife, Angela McAlhaney, who was honored for the many sacrifices she has made throughout the years as the wife of a police officer. Behind every dedicated officer is a family who makes sacrifices, offers support, and understands the demands that come with a life of service. We are grateful for Angela and the important role she has played throughout Perry's career. ❤️

Chief McAlhaney, thank you for 38 years of service, dedication, and commitment to the Town of Hampton. We wish you all the best in your well-deserved retirement and hope this next chapter is filled with plenty of time with family, relaxation, and new adventures!

🎆 Fireworks Safety Reminder from the Town of Hampton 🎆

As we celebrate Independence Day and America's 250th Birthday, the Town of Hampton wishes everyone a fun and safe holiday weekend!

If you plan to enjoy fireworks, please remember that not everyone celebrates the same way. Being a good neighbor helps ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday.

Please keep these tips in mind:
🇺🇸 Be considerate of your neighbors—avoid setting off fireworks late at night, especially in residential neighborhoods.
🐾 Remember that fireworks can be frightening for pets. Keep animals safely indoors and check that collars and identification tags are up to date.
🎖️ Loud fireworks may also affect veterans and others who are sensitive to sudden loud noises.
🔥 Keep fireworks away from homes, vehicles, dry grass, and other combustible materials.
👧 Never allow young children to handle fireworks. Adult supervision is essential.
🪣 Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby in case of fire.
🧹 After the celebration, clean up used fireworks and debris to help keep our neighborhoods beautiful.
🚑 If an emergency occurs, call 911 immediately.

Let's celebrate our nation's independence with pride, respect, and responsibility. By looking out for one another, we can make this Independence Day enjoyable for everyone.

From all of us at the Town of Hampton, have a safe, happy, and memorable Fourth of July as we celebrate 250 years of American independence! 🇺🇸🎇
