😲Recently debris in a trash truck in York County caught fire due to Lithium-ion batteries. A resident saw the flames shoot up as soon at the trash was dumped into the truck and flagged down the driver. The driver was able to dump the load immediately and the fire was determined to be from from an electronic device.

Recent fires in trash trucks and in dumpsters are likely caused by improper disposal of hazardous materials in the refuse.

🔋Rechargeable batteries don't belong in your trash or recycle bin.

Bring them to the last Household Chemical Collection for this year. Nov. 21 from 8a-noon at the Coliseum.

HCCC Commissioners and staff participated in the Youth Climate Action Summit in partnership with Resilient Hampton

The Summit was an educational and engagement opportunity for Hampton students to learn about climate action work and develop project ideas for the Youth Climate Action Fund. The vendors at the event gave students he opportunities to learn from the different organizations implementing local climate and environmental projects and programs.

Pssst... Did you know today is International Day?

Did you also know that about 86% of Americans eat pasta at least once a week?!? 🍝And that pasta is shelf stable and a great low cost contribution to a food pantry?

Drop off pasta (don't forget the sauce!) and other non-perishable items at our office until November 20th. We will take them a local food pantry for Thanksgiving distribution.
