TONIGHT AT 7:30 PM!! VIRTUAL: Horror Book Recs with Bestselling Author Sam Rebelein

Not sure what to read next? Join author Sam Rebelein, quarterly, for 30 minutes of pure book recommendations - the best of horror out there! We'll discuss 6-8 books that Sam loved or is looking forward to and we'll intersperse chat about writing and publishing - how fun is that? We're sure you'll find something to like from Sam's many enthusiastic reviews.

Please register.

Sam Rebelein holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Goddard College (with a focus on Horror and Memoir), a certificate of graduation from the Lubbock Area Square & Round Dance Federation, and that one trophy in The Last of Us Part II for when you beat the game on permadeath mode. Hard to say which of these is his greatest achievement.

Sam lives in Poughkeepsie, NY, where he writes spooky fiction and works as a Professional Tutor in the Writing Center at Dutchess Community College. His debut novel EDENVILLE was nominated for a Bram Stoker Award, and won a Wonderland Book Award for Best Novel. Sam's recent collection of interconnected short fiction, THE POORLY MADE AND OTHER THINGS, is set in the same fictional upstate New York county as EDENVILLE; he also has a novel which came out in Fall 2025 called GALLOWAY'S GOSPEL, which is set in the same world. For more about Sam's work, and pictures of his dog Frodo, follow him on Instagram .

You all know we love our book birthdays and we can't wait to celebrate Amityville Awakens with horror author Robert Ottone! The book will have just come out on Oct 6th so we'll make sure we don't run into spoilers but we're sure there will be plenty to chat about. NEXT MONDAY NIGHT AT 6:30 PM!! New Zealand: Penguins, Parrots & Pods

New Zealand is home to many rare birds and marine mammals including the comical yellow-eyed penguin. Watch and listen as the yellow-eyed penguin returns from the ocean to feed its chick and the Antipodes Island parrot demonstrates “looks, personality and talent.” Not to be outdone, rare New Zealand sea lions make quite an impression as they interact on isolated South Island beaches, pods of rare Hector’s dolphins frolic near coastal shores and dusky dolphins play with kayakers as they travel deep into the fiords of southern New Zealand. Join us for sights and sounds of animal personalities from this amazing country.

Join Joy Marzolf of The Joys of Nature for an informative photographic tour through the country and its fauna!

NEXT SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT 2:00 PM!! VIRTUAL: Author and Historian Helen Fry Discusses "The White Lady"

We learned so much from Helen the last time she spoke with us, we had to have her back! This time, she'll be discussing her book, "The White Lady: The Story of Two Key British Secret Service Networks Behind German Lines" - A major new history of the two most important British secret service networks in the First and Second World Wars. This is a compelling account of the agents who risked their lives and found ingenious ways to smuggle intelligence out of occupied Belgium.

RECORDING NOTE: We will NOT be recording this session.

Please register.
