HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Military retirees, their families, and members of the Total Force approaching retirement are invited to attend the annual Military Retiree Appreciation Day Nov. 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Base Exchange.
Hosted by the Retiree Activities Office, the event will bring together more than 35 organizations and service providers to help retirees and their families connect with resources and get answers to questions about benefits, healthcare, finances, and other services available after military service.
“We want retirees to come away from this event with answers, useful information and connections to the organizations that can help them,” said retired Marine Corps Capt. Dean Mottard, the event organizer. “With so many organizations in one location, it’s a great opportunity to ask questions, learn about changes that may affect them and make sure they’re taking advantage of the benefits and resources they’ve earned through their service.”
Representatives are expected from organizations including the Social Security Administration, Defense Finance and Accounting Service, Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Service Organizations, healthcare providers, and other agencies serving the military retiree community.
The event is open to military retirees and their families, including surviving family members. Active duty Airmen, Guardians, Guard and Reserve members are also encouraged to attend, particularly those approaching retirement who may have questions about the transition from military service.
The event provides an opportunity for attendees to speak directly with representatives from multiple organizations without having to navigate each agency separately, while also reconnecting with members of the local military community.
Additional information about the event is available through the Hanscom AFB Retiree Activities Office at 781-225-1310.
