Dear Hansen School Community,

Out of an abundance of caution, Hansen Junior and Senior high was briefly evacuated this morning due to a gas-like odor. Rock Creek Fire, Intermountain Gas and Kimberly Police responded and assessed the situation. No gas leak was detected. We believe the odor may be related to a sewer situation in the basement area.

That situation is being addressed.

We apologize for any inconvenience or stress this may have caused the Hansen school community.

UPDATE: The building has been cleared and is safe for students and staff to return. Intermountain Gas, the fire department, and the police department responded quickly to assess the situation, and no gas leak was found. We have received the all-clear and students and staff are safely back in the building. We greatly appreciate their quick response and everyone’s patience and understanding while we worked to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

Hansen Jr/Sr High School: We want to make families aware that we detected the smell of gas in the building this morning. Out of an abundance of caution, we have evacuated all students and staff and have contacted Intermountain Gas, as well as the fire and police departments. Everyone is safe, and we will remain evacuated until we receive the all-clear to return to the building. We will provide an update as soon as more information is available.

Congratulations, Mrs. Evans!

We are excited to celebrate Mrs. Evans for being selected as a CapEd Foundation Teacher Grant recipient! Her grant, “The Future of Agriculture Takes Flight,” will bring drones into her classroom and give students hands-on opportunities to explore how technology is changing the future of agriculture. From reaching more acres to gathering information more efficiently, drones are becoming an important tool in modern agriculture, and now our students will have the opportunity to experience that technology firsthand!

A huge THANK YOU to CapEd for investing in our teachers, students, and innovative learning opportunities.

And thank you to our teachers and students who helped make Mrs. Evans’ surprise presentation even more special by being there to celebrate with her!

Congratulations, Mrs. Evans! We can’t wait to see The Future of Agriculture Take Flight at Hansen!
