Night Out Against Crime - A Success!

A HUGE THANK YOU, HARAHAN!

On behalf of the Harahan Police Department, I want to sincerely thank all of our law enforcement partners, support groups, volunteers, and, most importantly, the citizens of Harahan who came out and made our Night Out Against Crime such a tremendous success!

A special thank you to Sheriff Joseph Lopinto and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office helicopter crew for bringing the JPSO helicopter to our event and landing it right on the playground field. It was certainly a BIG hit with the kids—young and old!

Events like Night Out Against Crime are about more than just meeting our officers. They are about building relationships, strengthening trust, and reminding everyone that law enforcement and our community are partners in keeping Harahan safe.

Thank you to every volunteer, organization, and citizen who took the time to come out, shake hands, meet our officers, and support this great community event.

And to the men and women of the Harahan Police Department—thank you for everything you do each and every day. Your dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the citizens of Harahan are what make events like this possible and help make our community such a special place to live.

I am proud to serve as your Chief of Police, and I am even more proud of the partnership we have built between the Harahan Police Department and the citizens we serve.

Together, we will continue working to keep Harahan safe, strong, and united.

God Bless Harahan, our law enforcement family, and the United States of America!

September 11 | We Will Never Forget

Today, Chief Ed Lepre and the Harahan Police Department join our nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001.
We honor the extraordinary courage of the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, first responders, members of our military, and ordinary citizens who ran toward danger to help others. Their bravery and selflessness in the face of unimaginable tragedy remain an enduring example of service and sacrifice.
We remember the nearly 3,000 lives taken that day, the families who were forever changed, and those who later lost their lives or continue to suffer from illnesses related to their service at Ground Zero.
Twenty-five years later, we remain committed to keeping their memories alive and teaching future generations about the courage, unity, and compassion Americans showed in the days that followed.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Back to School – Let's Have a Safe Start!

School is back in session this Friday in Jefferson Parish, and that means our school zones will once again be filled with students, parents, school buses, and crossing guards.
Chief Ed Lepre and the Harahan Police Department ask everyone to do their part to help keep our children safe by slowing down, staying alert, and putting distractions aside while driving through school zones.
Remember, Louisiana's new hands-free driving law is in effect. Please keep your cell phone out of your hands while driving, especially in school zones where children can enter the roadway unexpectedly.
Throughout the school year, Harahan Police officers will be present in our school zones to help keep traffic moving safely and remind motorists to obey the law.
As Chief Lepre likes to say, "We'd much rather see you wave as you drive by than have to meet you at your window."
Let's work together to give our students a safe and successful start to the new school year.
Have a wonderful school year!

Tropical Storm Bertha Reminder

The Harahan Police Department encourages everyone to remain weather-aware as Tropical Storm Bertha moves through the Gulf Coast region.
The heaviest rainfall is currently expected to remain closer to the coast. However, Harahan may experience periods of winds and rain. Now is a good time to take a few simple precautions:
• Continue monitoring local weather reports and official updates• Check catch basins and storm drains near your property, and safely remove debris that could restrict drainage• Charge phones and other essential devices
Keeping drains clear can help rainwater move more efficiently and reduce the possibility of street flooding.
Please stay informed, use caution during periods of heavy rain, and continue following updates from trusted weather and emergency management sources.
The Harahan Police Department is monitoring the storm and will be available where needed.

The Harahan Police Department and Chief Ed Lepre extend our deepest condolences to the United States Marshals Service following the tragic loss of a Deputy U.S. Marshal who was killed in the line of duty on Monday in Alexandria.

We also keep the deputy's family, friends, and fellow law enforcement officers in our thoughts and prayers as they navigate this unimaginable loss.

Every day, law enforcement officers place themselves in harm's way to protect and serve their communities. We honor the courage, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice of this fallen Deputy U.S. Marshal.

The Harahan Police Department stands in solidarity with our federal law enforcement partners during this difficult time. We will never forget the sacrifice made in the service of others.

Please join us in keeping the Deputy's loved ones and the entire United States Marshals Service family in your thoughts and prayers.
