Lead poisoning is preventable, and protecting our families starts with awareness!
Lead exposure can cause serious health problems, especially in young children. Even small amounts of lead can be harmful, and children may not show obvious symptoms.
Here’s how you can help protect your family:
• Check your home: Homes built before 1978 may contain lead-based paint.
• Keep dust under control: Wet-clean windowsills, floors, and other surfaces where lead dust may collect.
• Wash hands often: Especially before eating and after playing.
• Use safe water: If you’re concerned about lead in your drinking water, consider having it tested.
• Talk to your healthcare provider: Ask about lead screening for your child, especially if you live in an older home.
Young children and pregnant individuals are especially vulnerable to the effects of lead exposure. Early detection and prevention are key to protecting lifelong health and development.
