The Paige Staff and Patrons are very grateful to the Friends of the Paige Memorial Library.

* Friends provide financial support so that programs can be free for the public to enjoy.
* Friends purchase seeds for the Seed Library to allow children and families to experience growing flowers and vegetables.
* Friends maintain the flowers and gardens which make the Paige a very attractive venue.
* Friends raise money through the sale of donated and weeded books, receive and manage financial gifts for the library, and provide physical support when needed.
* Friends have purchased books and materials to supplement the budget, provided seasonal lights and decorations, replaced the American flag when it ages, repaired benches, written grants, and more...

Thank you, Friends of the Paige Memorial Library, for all you do! ❤️❤️

Happy National Friends of Libraries Week! 🎉

This week, we recognize and celebrate the volunteers everywhere who support their libraries in all kinds of ways—from fundraising to advocacy to spreading the word about all the great things the library has to offer.

YOU can become a friend of your library and make a lasting difference in your community. Ask your librarian about joining your library's Friends group, or consider starting your own if your library doesn't have one yet.

The Ware River Valley Domestic Violence Task Force has generously donated books and time to the Paige Memorial Library. They invited the library to show and tell about resources for learning, relaxing, and interacting with others which can make life more interesting and create a positive future. Books donated to the Library by the task force will be on display. Come join us to read the books, to color bookmarks, and to learn about resources available at the library.

The Ware River Valley Domestic Violence Task Force members organized the gathering to raise public awareness about domestic violence and highlight local support services following two recent domestic violence homicides in nearby towns. Diane Opper of Belchertown died in March and Emma Pastercayk of Palmer died in May in a hotel room at UMass Amherst.

The community gathering beginning at 1 p.m. at Veteran’s Park in Ware will feature a free children’s bike raffle, free pastries and hot dogs, a photo booth, music and children’s art. Following the gathering, participants will take part in a short walk through downtown Ware.

Scheduled speakers for the event include Rep. Todd Smola, District Attorney David Sullivan and Abbey Bateman from the Ware High School Domestic Violence Task Force. Reese McKeever, a member of the high school task force, will serve as emcee and local students will lead the walk.

Jesse Trzpit serves as the coordinator for the Ware High School Domestic Violence Task Force. “The Walk is such an important event not only for the community but also for the students because it creates a presence for everyone and lets victims know that they are not alone; there are supports out there and ways to get help even when it may not seem like there is a way out,” Trzpit said. “As a group, we like to come together in solidarity with everyone and we feel that even if we can help even just one person, we are working toward ridding the world of domestic violence.”

Local advocacy services are available through the Behavioral Health Network in Ware at 413-967-6241. Individuals seeking to change abusive behavior can contact the Call for Change Helpline at 877-898-3411. Additional information and resources from the task force are available online at waredvtaskforce.org or via email at [email protected].
