Out of an abundance of caution due to flooding expected in our area tomorrow, Tuesday, June 16, there will be no school or summer activities.

The safety of our students, staff, and families remains our highest priority. We encourage everyone to stay weather aware, monitor trusted local weather updates, and use caution throughout the day. Please avoid flooded roadways and never attempt to drive through standing water.

For our employees, we also want to prioritize your safety. Please watch for direct communication from your supervisor, who will notify you of any changes in your work schedule tomorrow.

Bilingual Summer School has had a wonderful first week. More than 70 students have filled the hallways of Bowie Elementary with excitement, learning, and laughter. Classrooms are actively engaged in meaningful instruction designed to strengthen students’ bilingual skills and academic growth.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) requires eligible emergent bilingual students to receive 120 hours of summer instruction. This additional learning time helps prevent summer learning loss, strengthens language development, and provides students with a strong foundation for success in the upcoming school year.

We are grateful for the dedication of our teachers, paraprofessionals, and staff who are making this valuable learning opportunity possible for our students.
