A gold Cadillac on the side of Byhalia Road, two miles south of the Tennessee line. The whole case came down to which side of that line he died on.

On the morning of March 10, 1970, the body of George Lenox, a wealthy Memphis horse breeder and bond man, was found in his car in Marshall County, Mississippi. He had been shot twice in the head.

Bobby Joe Fabian, already linked to the loose crew the press called the Dixie Mafia, signed a confession in December 1971 while serving time in Louisiana. At trial he took it back and claimed the first shot was fired at a corner on the Tennessee side.

A pathologist testified Lenox was still alive and the car was stopped when the second shot was fired, and that he died in Mississippi. The jury agreed. In Fabian v. State, decided October 15, 1973, the Mississippi Supreme Court upheld the conviction on venue but sent it back because the death sentence could not stand after Furman v. Georgia.

(Columbiana, AL) In early April 2026, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office received information which prompted an investigation into the possible possession of child sexual abuse material. Following the initial investigation, Justin Daniel MacMahon-Sessions, 26-year-old of North Shelby County, was arrested and has been charged with sixteen counts of Possession with Intent to Disseminate Child Sexual Abuse Material.
